It was still only 19:00, but Zaboru had already left the office. He wanted to visit Toki at Bakudan Arcade, check on Toki's ZEPS rental business, and get his opinion on the state of the arcade market. As he walked through the dimly lit streets, his mind was occupied with business strategies. "For arcade machines, it's really hard to develop, especially the advanced ones. I don't think ZAGE has the resources for that right now. It would be better to focus on handhelds and PC ports first, then maybe arcade games later when we have a stronger foundation."
While walking, he was also researching a company called Tamiya. In this world, Tamiya had already established itself in the RC car market, but unlike his previous life, they had yet to delve into Mini 4WD racing. Seizing the opportunity, Zaboru had already patented the "Mini 4WD" name. This meant that while other companies could still make toy cars, they wouldn't be able to use that specific branding.
After a while, he finally arrived at Bakudan Arcade. The familiar neon lights flickered, casting a warm glow on the pavement. Stepping inside, the scent of cigarettes and excitement filled the air. As he entered, he greeted Toki with a smirk. "Hello, Toki-san. Long time no see."
Toki, casually smoking a cigar behind the counter, looked up and grinned. "Oh my, if it isn't Zaboru! Long time no see, indeed."
Zaboru chuckled and turned his gaze toward the ZEPS rental section. There, he noticed four people playing a game together—two familiar faces and two unfamiliar ones. Sakaki, Toki's employee, and Sawada, a ZAGE New employee specializing in PC development, were sitting with two others he didn't recognize. Curious, he decided to observe them.
Meanwhile, the four were locked in a fierce battle in RC Pro AM. The screen was split into four, but thanks to the 24-inch TV that Bakudan Arcade provided, it was still easy to see the action clearly. The race had already started, and the competition was fierce. Sakaki—driving the Sakaki Revolver—was currently in first place, followed closely by Endo in his Endo F1. Rikki, driving the Rikki Cannon Mugen, was in third, while Sawada's Rodeo Loco struggled at the back.
Rikki burst into laughter. "HAHAHA! Sawada, you suck!"
Sawada gritted his teeth, determined to prove him wrong. "Hah! I'll show you, Rikki! Let's go, Rodeo Loco! LOCO FLASH!" His RC car suddenly blinked forward, teleporting a short distance and overtaking Rikki's Cannon Mugen.
"NANI!?" Rikki shouted in shock. He quickly recovered and grinned. "Heh! Too soon to celebrate, Sawada! Let's go, Cannon Mugen! HEAVY CANNON!" His RC fired a powerful blast in a straight line—just as Sawada's car crossed in front of him.
Rodeo Loco was blasted off the track, bringing it to a dead stop. Rikki burst into laughter. "HAHAHA! Take that, Sawada!"
Sawada clenched his fists. "Damn you, Rikki!"
While they fought in the back, the real competition was happening up front between Sakaki and Endo. Sakaki grinned confidently. "Looks like the tweaks you made aren't good enough, Endo. I'm the champion now!"
Endo smirked. "We'll see about that, Sakaki-san."
Sakaki, sensing an opportunity, activated his special move. Because the upcoming track was a long straightaway, his ability was perfect. "Let's go, REVOLVER FULL THROTTLE!" His RC surged forward at maximum speed, quickly widening the gap.
But Endo remained calm. He keep trailing Sakaki Revolver behind , He had a plan. As they approached a sharp turn, he saw his chance. "Time to show you what true racers are made of! Endo F1, ELECROMAX SHIELD!"
A glowing energy field surrounded Endo's car, and in a shocking display of skill, he drifted perfectly around the sharp turn while maintaining speed. The shield clipped Sakaki's car, slowing him down just enough for Endo to overtake him.
"WHAT!?" Sakaki shouted. "How can you drift like that!?"
Sawada and Rikki, still behind, were equally stunned. "HE'S REALLY DRIFTING!?"
Endo simply smirked. "With practice, boys!" As he crossed the finish line, he raised his hands in victory. "YEAH! I WON!" Endo had been practicing his drifting moves multiple times at home, refining his technique until he could execute it flawlessly under pressure.
Sakaki slumped back, defeated. "Damn it... how did you do that!?" He really impressed by Endo skills
Rikki sighed, shrugging. "That was impressive Endo! , but Ah well. I don't mind losing—as long as I beat Sawada! HAHAHA!"
Sawada clenched his fists. "Damn you, Rikki!"
The group laughed and quickly decided to start another match on a different track.
Zaboru, having watched the entire race, smiled to himself. Seeing a group of friends having this much fun reminded him why he loved making games.
