After beating Contra for the first time, Brian Reynald grinned and immediately started another run. This time, he selected Lance Bean, eager to test out a different playstyle. With each attempt, he could feel himself improving. Lance's special ability, True Grit, allowed him to tank more hits, making him far more sustainable in battle. Despite still dying countless times, he pressed on, determined to prove his mastery of the game. Hours passed in a blur of gunfire, explosions, and relentless retries, his frustration mounting each time he got sent back to a checkpoint. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he cleared Contra again, this time with Lance. He leaned back, exhausted yet victorious.
"Heh, I'm invincible! Contra is too easy!" he bragged, despite the fact that he had suffered more deaths than he could count. But as the credits rolled, something unexpected happened. Instead of the usual ending, an 8-bit cutscene appeared. The screen flickered, revealing a new character—a buff guy with a red bandana, long curly hair, an M60 machine gun slung over his shoulder, and a cigar between his lips. Below him, bold letters read: "NEW CHARACTER UNLOCKED!"
The name appeared beneath: Joe Rembo.
Brian's eyes widened in shock. "Holy sh*t! A new character?!"

Brian nearly jumped off his couch in excitement. "Oh, this guy is about to fuck some aliens ass!!"
Without hesitation, he navigated back to the main menu and selected Joe Rembo. The character selection screen highlighted Rembo's special ability: Rembo Barrage, which drastically increased his firing speed, doubled his damage when using a machine gun, and turned him into a relentless killing machine. Brian chuckled.
"A guy who's all about the machine gun? This is gonna be insane!"
He started a new run and quickly realized that Rembo's default weapon wasn't the usual pea shooter but a fully automatic machine gun. The moment he grabbed an M power-up, his gun transformed into a monstrous rapid-fire weapon that filled the entire screen with bullets.
"TATATATATATATA!" Brian yelled, laughing like a maniac as he shredded through enemies.
But things weren't that simple. As overpowered as Rembo was, the game had adjusted itself. The enemies became stronger, more aggressive, and more unpredictable. Alien forces began dodging his bullets more effectively, and some even took multiple hits to go down. Despite his advantage, Brian found himself getting overwhelmed. He died. And then he died again. And again.
"What the hell?! Why is this still so hard?!" he shouted, gripping his controller tightly.
Each death fueled his determination. Every failure pushed him to refine his strategy. He gritted his teeth, learning enemy patterns and adjusting his approach. The frustration was mounting, but he refused to let the game win. After an excruciatingly long session, he finally conquered the game again—this time with Joe Rembo. Then 8 bit cutscenes happen , Joe Rembo killing the Aliens with His machine guns!
Brian collapsed back into his seat, exhausted. "That was insane... but so worth it!"
Just as he thought he had seen it all, another cutscene triggered. This time, the screen showed an 8-bit silhouette of a massive figure. A deep red glow shined behind the figure's black sunglasses. It stepped forward, revealing a metallic endoskeleton beneath its synthetic skin. A shotgun gleamed in its hands. The words flashed on-screen: NEW CHARACTER UNLOCKED!
The Terminator T-800.
Brian's jaw dropped. "No way. Another Playable Character?!"
The character bio appeared: A futuristic assassin cyborg sent from the future to help annihilate the Red Falcon.
Brian's hands trembled with excitement as he immediately selected the Terminator. His special ability, Termination Mode, granted him insane speed, doubled his damage output, and made him nearly indestructible. Even his default weapon was different—a powerful shotgun that blasted enemies into oblivion.
From the moment the level started, Brian knew this was going to be a power trip. The Terminator walked forward, completely unfazed by the chaos around him. The shotgun blasted through multiple enemies at once, and when he grabbed an M power-up, his gunfire became a death storm.
"Oh, this is just unfair!" Brian howled with laughter. "This dude is a walking apocalypse!"
He breezed through the game, enjoying every second of it. But just when he thought it was over after beating Alien Boss, another cutscene triggered. The screen darkened, and suddenly, another T-800 emerged from the shadows, its red eyes glowing ominously.
Brian's excitement turned into shock. "Wait... I have to fight myself?!"
The game threw him into a grueling one-on-one battle against the Terminator's doppelgänger. The enemy moved fast, absorbed bullets like a tank, and countered every strategy Brian tried. He died repeatedly, unable to land consistent damage.
"This is impossible! How am I supposed to beat this thing?!" he screamed.
But Brian refused to back down. He studied its movement patterns, baited out attacks, and slowly chipped away at its health. After what felt like an eternity, he landed the final shot. The enemy Terminator collapsed, flickering with static before delivering its final words: "I'll be back."
The screen faded to black. Then, a new message appeared.
NEW CHARACTER UNLOCKED!
A black-armored soldier stood at the center of the screen, his gray helmet featuring a bold "Z" on the forehead. His blue visor shined brightly, obscuring his face. The text below revealed his name:
Zabo-Man. Zabo-man bio said : A Great Soldier who loves saying You Are Very Cool!, but nobody know where his come from"
Brian blinked. "Who the hell is Zabo-Man? Is this the guy from the Z-card? What a weirdo."
He selected Zabo-Man, eager to see what this mysterious character could do. His default weapon was a small laser pistol, but his ability, You Are Very Cool, drastically increased his speed and fire rate, turning him into a blur of destruction.
Brian grinned, playing through the game once again. "This guy is ridiculous!"
By the time he reached the final boss and delivered the finishing blow, he had officially spent the entire day playing Contra.
He leaned back, exhausted but satisfied. "That... was the best game I've ever played."
He glanced over at his other newly purchased game—Metal Gear—sitting untouched on the table.
"Alright, Metal Gear... let's see if you can top that."
He turned off the console, stretched his arms, and stood up. Tomorrow, a new challenge awaits
