Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes Chapter 35

The two looked at each other. The subtle smile on Atlas’ face may not have meant much to most people, but the gods and goddesses watching him were already amused, and even Cordelia and the others who had seen what was happening were filled with great interest.

No one knew why, but this young man really seemed to be able to stand up to this woman who was many times stronger than him. Even if the corner of one lip was pushed up, the fact that the look was still interesting was obvious.

Atlas and Amber suddenly moved.

Atlas dived straight to the side and avoided a lightning ball sent by Amber. Immediately after that, he leapt forward and planned to swing his sword to attack Amber. However, all the instincts in his body must have kicked in at that moment because he suddenly threw himself to the left.

At that moment, a wave of flames rose from the arena floor. "Firewall", a fourth-grade spell, was a powerful defence system, especially for aura users.

However, there was apparently something Amber didn’t know.

Atlas suddenly extended his hand towards her, and then dozens of ice sickles began to emerge from Atlas’s hand.

This spell of black ice quickly made its way through the wall of flame, and soon the assistant professor Amber was forced to take a few steps backwards and prepare a mana shield.

It was just like the weak mana shield Lady Cordelia had prepared. It seemed that Amber wanted to buy time under the guise of creating a quick spell. Still, Atlas was not foolish enough to fall for such a trick.

This time he managed to dash forward very easily and, stepping on the remnants of the wall of flame, began to strike blow after blow at Amber’s mana shield with the holy sword in his hand:

As if someone were hitting a barrel with their bare hands, sounds began to rise in the arena. Amber’s mana shield was at a low level. As Atlas realised that the woman in front of him was a maximum fourth-grade mage, her attacks became more deadly.

The holy sword was constantly landing on the mana shield, and despite having only one level of aura, Atlas was actually using the aura in his body to damage the shield.

Atlas’ plan was very simple. It was really the simplest, simplest plan he could have ever come up with.

Devil worshippers had one thing in common. Unlike angel worshippers, devil worshippers naturally turned into angry and aggressive personalities. Of course, high-level devil worshippers could hide themselves in society by suppressing these characteristics.

On top of that, they had the ability to hide their powers from other magicians.

It was quite frightening, but someone who could use this ability properly could kill a lot of people.

After all, no one would expect or logically imagine that the person you attacked would suddenly become a seventh-grade wizard.

Amber wasn’t one of them, though. Well, not exactly. At least she was smart enough to have the ability to hide her own magic.

Atlas remembered it very, very clearly. Eight-Class devil worshipper Amber Lynn. She was nothing more than the lowest level of disciple, a woman who could only take the aggression and anger out of the demons.

This meant that Atlas would be as serious as possible, and perhaps as aggressive as possible, in order to get Amber to give herself away.

There was no way that such a low-level devil worshipper could be intelligent or resourceful. Such people were only those who, unfortunately, were more easily empowered by their chosen path, and that was all.

However, Atlas soon began to realise that his plan was working. The anger in Amber’s expression could be seen by the students who had already finished their duel, the professors who were watching what was happening, and even the gods and goddesses who were watching everything.

It didn’t make sense for an assistant professor to get so angry at a first-year student, no matter how strong he was. It was just a duel.

Still, Atlas had no intention of stopping.

He instantly took a few steps backwards and then opened his palm, pointing it directly at the damaged mana shield.

"Fire Storm." Atlas suddenly muttered, and with that, a seriously large mass of mana emanated from his hand.

This mana mass was very, very hot, like a fire that could not be seen with the naked eye. And that’s what happened anyway. Atlas had used magic not by spreading his mana, but by burning it after it left his body, creating a fire that would not be visible for perhaps a second or two.

Everyone had to agree that it was a very professional use of magic.

It was a pity that gifts from a god or goddess could not be used under the rules of the duel, but Atlas didn’t care. It would be normal for him to defeat such a weak woman without Nyx’s help.

The power between the third and fourth magic rings could not be described in detail, but in general terms, if the third magic ring was a rusty arrow, the fourth magic ring was an arrowhead made of the most perfect iron.

The difference was that great, which is why the mana pool required was so significant.

Atlas was soon unable to maintain the invisibility of the fire any longer, and although he held himself back, the magnitude of the fire storm he unleashed in just three seconds was visible not only to the professors and others, but to everyone.

The white flames were constantly swirling around and over Amber’s magic shield. It could even be seen with the naked eye that the mana shield was literally melting.

Although it was a third-grade spell, the type of magic Atlas had was literally freezing and melting the mana shield. It was like a sudden application of heat and cold to a living organism.

It was indeed an interesting way of melting magic.
