Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes Chapter 66

The battle was far from over. Atlas and the mage corps under his command had only destroyed the summoners in the centre. The hundred or so summoners here were only capable of summoning half of the thousands of monsters that poured out every five minutes.

Nevertheless, with each of these summoners killed, the devil worshippers were weakened.

Many began to flee from the centre in order not to die, and in this way the centre was able to be completely cleared.

Nevertheless, the tamers and summoners around were still a nuisance.

For this very reason, Atlas ordered the troop to move towards the western part of the centre.

The troop obeyed Atlas’s order and began to follow him with a serious one hundred per cent obedience and thoughtfulness.

Atlas’ mana level was much reduced, but not exhausted. He was still capable of casting more than ten third-grade spells.

Still, it would be normal to say that his aura was drained. His Starry Night ability had shut down, and his aura was locked back to its old level. He only had enough mana to cast a small number of spells.

As the troop led by Atlas began to run, they realised that they could hear the distant sounds of the army, war cries and the outpouring of hope.

As each of them turned their heads, they could see that the massive army led by the dwarf Duke Bhagholir and his great family was advancing from the eastern flank and destroying the monsters.

The battle was close to being won, and there was no way to tell otherwise.

Soon the troops had reached the roads of the western flank. They passed between the buildings and continued to advance, extinguishing the areas under fire.

After this short time, they finally encountered what they thought were devil worshippers. However, it took them a moment to realise that something was wrong.

Atlas immediately ordered the unit to halt and hid behind a building, saying, "One of you cast a karma spell, something is wrong. The rest of you prepare your stun spells, quickly."

As soon as one of the wizards cast the karma spell, a huge green light was emitted, and before the devil worshippers realised what was happening, the guild was already aware of what was happening.

Among the devil worshippers were people who had been held against their will. There were enslaved humans, dwarves, and even elves, who possessed one of the purest magical powers of any race.

"NOW!!!" shouted Atlas and instantly leapt forward.

With his leap forward, dozens of spells were thrown into the sky. Each of these spells instantly spread out like vines and wrapped themselves around the people targeted by the mages.

Atlas, with the help of the strengthening spells on his body and his Night’s Step ability on top of it, managed to move forward by increasing his speed to the perfect rate, and then killed as many demon worshippers as he could.

There were about fifty devil worshippers in the area, and Atlas had already killed half of them.

The wizards in the unit came out from where they were, and many of them directly used death spells, such as Ice Needle and similar spells-- just like Kris used against him-- to kill the other demon worshippers.

Most of the remaining people were looking at Atlas and the others with fear. It didn’t take a detective to realise that none of these people were devil worshippers. Their karma was either incredibly positive or they had thousands of positive karmas.

They all looked like people who had been forcibly imprisoned.

They looked like sex slaves, mostly women.

There were bloodied corpses all around, and it was clear why these people were here.

The devil worshippers must have forcibly drained their mana from their bodies. This was enough to explain how summoners could bring out thousands of monsters every five minutes.

It was a very sad and horrible view indeed.

Atlas knew this was the largest slave market in the empire, and that was what made it all so bad. He couldn’t even imagine how many people had lost their lives here.

He walked over to the people, looking at them in horror and, raising his holy sword to his inventory, took out dozens of food and drinks from his inventory and gave them to the dozens of slaves gathered around.

Then he turned to the mages in the troop and said, "Inspect the buildings! If you find any devil worshippers, show no mercy! If you find slaves, pick them up gently, you are not allowed to harm them!"

The mages in the troop were surprised by his words and actions. Atlas, seeing that they were still standing, said, "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO!" he shouted.

Atlas’s words echoed through the huge space, and the mages in the troop started to move without thinking twice.

Atlas gently moved as close as he could to the slaves and then said, "You’re safe now, I’m so sorry, we’re too late."

He didn’t even need to describe the look of pain, sadness and regret on his face. At that moment, he was angry with himself for having waited a month. The reason he had waited was to bring with him a certain guarantee, but it was understandable that this sadness was tempting him.

His words seemed to warm the hearts of every slave. Dozens of slaves, from children to the elderly, stood among them, and the mages in the troop continued to bring dozens of them to the site every minute.

Atlas pulled crates of food from his inventory. His heart was breaking at the sight.

He stopped five of the mages and ordered, "Collect the bodies of the slaves and put them in body bags, and burn the bodies of the devil worshippers."

Atlas’s orders were instantly carried out.

After a short time, the devil worshippers hiding in the area were also found and killed in a short time. More than a hundred corpses were burning around. The smell of burning flesh made everyone’s nose sour, but at the same time, it was enough to bring tears to the eyes of the survivors.

The war was very, very close to being over.
