Apocalypse: Last Traveler Chapter 162

Lu Xi'an opened the laptop, flipped open the folder with videos, and left the choice of film to Yao Wei, he was content with just watching.

Yao Wei tidied up her things, brought over a bed sheet, and covered both herself and Lu Xi'an, then went to pick a movie.

Maybe wanting a change of pace, she didn't deliberately choose a war or action movie today, she randomly selected one and opened it. Judging by the movie's name, it seemed to be a youth school film called "Eighteen-Year-Old Sky."

After the movie started, it talked about the trivial matters between students, focusing on the teacher from the main perspective, solving various issues with the students, advancing emotionally, and resonating with them, making Lu Xi'an unconsciously remember a series he watched in a past life called "Seventeen-Year-Old Sky," and another film called "Hello, Teacher."

It seems this movie does not focus on romance, allowing him to watch it with peace of mind without causing Yao Wei any discomfort.

Lu Xi'an then lowered the seat and lay down, resting his head on his hands while watching the laptop screen, gradually relaxing, and wandering into thoughts.

Watching this movie, he unconsciously recalled his own school life, feeling somewhat melancholic for a moment.

But back then, he didn't have so many things going on; most of his time was spent on preparing for exams, attending classes, and doing homework, occasionally playing basketball, soccer, reading novels, or visiting cybercafés, but those instances were few.

Clearly, those days were uneventful, so why did they feel somehow similar to those in the movie?

Lu Xi'an couldn't quite understand why.

But regardless, this movie was actually quite good. At the very least, it was just normal student stories, where the students' main focus remained on studying hard and getting into a good college, without too many messy melodramatic segments.

And as usual, as Lu Xi'an watched, he slowly drifted off to sleep.

And when Lu Xi'an fell asleep, Yao Wei watched a little more. After confirming that Lu Xi'an was sound asleep, she planned to shut down the computer.

However, just as she placed her slender fingers on the laptop's touchpad, preparing to maneuver the cursor to close the movie, she saw a scene on the computer screen that seemed somewhat familiar to her.

—or rather, it felt a bit familiar.

She saw on the screen, in the movie, two students, a boy and a girl, who were characters in the teacher's class.

The boy was riding a bicycle with the girl sitting on the back seat, her arms lightly wrapped around the boy's waist to keep herself from falling off.

They rode along a riverside road, rows of lush trees receding behind them; the breeze tousled the girl's hair and ruffled their collars, exuding a youthful and beautiful feeling.

Yao Wei's heart raced involuntarily. She quickly turned off the video and closed the laptop, glanced back at Lu Xi'an, and as she saw that he was still asleep, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She lay down quietly, covered herself with the sheet, and stared at the car roof with her eyes wide open, waiting for a long moment until her heart, pounding "thump thump," finally started to calm down.

Did Lu Xi'an watch this movie before?

This question was the first to flash through Yao Wei's mind.

For some reason, she felt she genuinely didn't want to know the answer to this question.

And if Lu Xi'an's answer was that he didn't know, she felt she might even be disappointed.

But why feel disappointed...

And before, while sitting on the back of the bicycle, she never had this feeling, so why was her heart pounding so fiercely now?!

When she was giving Lu Xi'an a ride, he did wrap his arms around her waist; it felt odd back then too...

No, her heart started racing again; she couldn't think about it anymore!

Yao Wei took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, daring not to let her mind wander anymore.

She closed her eyes, quietly emptied her mind, and slowly drifted off to sleep.

One night passed, and when they woke up the next day, the weather was still nice.

Yao Wei opened the thermos and looked inside; steam was still coming out, she took a sip, and although it wasn't as hot as the previous day, it was still warm, and not too cool.

It seems this thermos was still working fine. Yao Wei was somewhat pleased and handed the cup to Lu Xi'an, saying, "Here, have a sip."

Lu Xi'an took a gentle sip, feeling that the water temperature, after sitting for a night, was just right—not too hot, not too cold—it was pleasant to drink, so he smiled and said to Yao Wei, "It's good, it's usable."

He spoke as he handed the thermos back.

"It was usable from the start."

Yao Wei reached out to take over the thermos, twisted the cap, and said, "If the water cools down, it just means it's not keeping warm, it doesn't mean the bottle can't be used.

"You could use it as a regular water bottle too."

But using a thermos as a regular water bottle was indeed quite unusual.

They packed up briefly, roasted some corn to eat, and made sure the boxes full of books on the roof were secure before setting off, leaving behind the old world harvest garden, and continuing south.

After traveling a bit further, they'd reach the city area of Gu County.

This road, though not wide, was at least relatively smooth, unlike the previous one, which was full of ups and downs, winding paths, and sudden heavy fog, rendering everything in front hazy and unclear, making the journey nerve-racking.

As Lu Xi'an was driving along, he thought of the fog and couldn't help discussing with Yao Wei: "What do you think about the fog over there in Liangcheng County?

"Do you think it's related to the Fish Rider, or to the things observed by the person at the Ox Head Mountain observation point?"
