His voice softened as he looked Chu Miao in the eyes with some astonishment.
Seeing his expression, Chu Miao knew he had figured it out.
"Yes, that person is me. But I still don’t know how I am supposed to save humanity. That’s why my family thought that starting a sect and using the resources left behind by our ancestors could be a start.
We will learn what to do as we advance. However, the first step is to start cultivating. My whole family are already cultivators and we thought it would be good to include you." Chu Miao decided to take a gamble and reveal some more information than she had initially intended to.
Telling Ye Xuan about the resources left behind by their ancestors was risky, but it was a risk she was willing to take, banking on his sense of loyalty and desire to protect her.

You should also be careful not to let another person know for the time being. We are too weak to protect something so valuable. And if some wrong forces find out about a legacy that could help people save humanity, they would likely do everything to take it for themselves because they might believe that having it will allow them to rule the world.

Ye Xuan was overjoyed that Chu Miao trusted him with something so significant to the survival of the world.
He didn’t doubt his girlfriend’s words because he had already experienced some of the magical things her family possessed. The water and pills she gave him yesterday should be part of the legacy she was talking about.
Thinking of how the water restored his strength and superpowers immediately and how those pills healed such serious wounds in an instant, he understood the depth of the legacy the Chu family possessed and realized that they couldn’t be careful enough.
He stretched out his arms and enveloped Chu Miao in them, hugging her tightly.
"Miaoer, you shouldn’t expose anything about that inheritance to anyone else. It is too valuable and could bring disaster if the wrong people found out." He advised as he rested his chin on her head.
"I know, that’s why I thought that even if we recruit people in the future to join us, to avoid any complications, those who wish to be part of our sect must take an oath that prevents them from talking about it or even think of betraying us.
It is harsh, but it could protect us and our followers later." She was talking about something like the oath the butler had sworn before.
But the one she wanted others to take wasn’t the master-servant contract, but a blood oath that would ensure that even if someone just thought of betraying them, they would suffer backlash from the heavenly dao and turn to ash.
This was a harsher version of the contract, but she felt it was necessary. The end of the world would probably bring more dangers in the future and having a single traitor could take down a giant. She didn’t want to gamble.
"Then can you give me that oath? I can take it and ensure that I don’t let anything slip without knowing." Ye Xuan immediately suggested. He wanted to be sure that he could protect Chu Miao’s secret without worry.
"No, you and I are equal partners and I believe that you will never do anything to betray me. So, you don’t need to take the oath." Chu Miao didn’t want to create suspicions around their relationship and having him take the oath was a clear indication that she didn’t trust him.
That was not something she would allow to happen. Building trust in a relationship was crucial and this was a test of how far they would go for each other.
Hearing what she said, Ye Xuan felt his heart swell with sweetness and love. Having so much trust from his girlfriend made him happier than if he had worn the lottery.
His arms around her tightened a little and he swore to himself that he would love the woman in his arms for all eternity.
"Thank you Miaoer for such a deep level of trust. I promise I won’t let you down." He promised her as he kissed her hair and closed his eyes to take in her unique scent.
"I know. I want to give you a pill for you to take first and once you are done, I can start teaching you cultivation and body tempering techniques." She said as she straightened and got out of his arms.
She stood up and walked to the table next to her bed and opened the lowest drawer.
She retrieved a small jade bottle with one pill inside and turned around to walk back to the sofa.
Of course, the pill was retrieved from the space ring. The drawer was just a cover because even though she trusted Ye Xuan, she didn’t think it was the right time to let him know about it.
So, she still had to keep this a secret.
"Once you go back home, fill your bathtub with water and take this pill while sitting in the water. You will understand why later.
While the pill does its job, you will experience excruciating pain but don’t give up halfway and you must stay conscious and not faint.
The pain will last for about an hour then you’ll be fine. But you will have to endure it." Chu Miao explained as she handed the jade bottle to Ye Xuan.
"What is the purpose of the pill? It must be very valuable." Ye Xuan said even though he didn’t stand on ceremony and took the bottle.
By now he already understood his girlfriend’s character. So, he knew that even if he thought the pill was too valuable and refused to take it, she would still force him to take it.
Hence, instead of going back and forth, it was better to be straightforward and take it.
