"Oh...okay Dad, I will keep the medicine safe.
Today, each of us got about twenty kilos of rice packaged in two kilogram packs. We raided a convenience store that was completely submerged.
Luckily, the store sign was mounted on top of it and the top part happened to be peeking through the water so we spotted it.
After diving, we found that the doors were locked. Fortunately, only the glass door was locked so we managed to break it with great effort.
I didn’t expect breaking a glass underwater to be so hard, it took us an hour of diving and trying to break the door at the same point then coming back up for air and going down again.
It wasn’t easy, however, once a crack appeared, the pressure of the water helped us break the rest.
There were still plenty of supplies in the store, so we filled our boats with as many varieties as we could.
My share has twenty kilograms of rice, twenty kilograms of sugar, twenty kilograms of flour, twenty liters of cooking oil packaged in two liter bottles, some snacks like chocolates and candies, vacuum -packed nuts, and different types of noodles and ready-to-eat meals.
With the supplies we brought back, it could last us for a couple of months without going out again, but we can’t do that. Hahahaaaa...." Feng Tu listed a good number of the supplies they had brought back and her parents were surprised.
This was the first time she had brought back so many supplies. It looked like the rain had been limiting her range too much.
Since the supplies were packed in garbage bags, the Feng couple started unpacking and placing the food in the kitchen or in Feng Tu’s bedroom to hide some from prying eyes if anyone ever showed up.
They had learnt a lesson from Mr. Feng’s younger brother.
When Mrs. Feng opened one of the garbage bags, she screamed. The scream scared her husband and daughter so much that they rushed over to her light lightning.
"What happened, honey?"
"What happened, Mom?"
The father and daughter asked in unison.
Mrs. Feng was too scared to speak, she kept pointing at a garbage bag with a trembling finger and a stammer.
Mr. Feng didn’t understand what had happened to his wife, he opened the bag she was pointing at and immediately jumped back. Almost letting a scream louder than his wife’s out.
Luckily, he caught himself in time and didn’t do it.
Feng Tu also went forward to check the bag after seeing her father’s reaction. She thought that someone had put a dead body in one of her bags when she wasn’t paying attention.
However, when she saw the guns in the bag, she sighed a loud sigh of relief. It was just the guns Chu Miao had given her. Her parents had nearly scared her to death.
When the Feng couple saw their daughter’s reaction, they were surprised. How come she looked like she had survived a disaster after seeing the guns?
Feng Tu understood her parent’s reaction. They had never seen a real gun in their lives and still didn’t understand that now guns were common weapons among normal citizens.
"Why do you have so many guns?" Mr. Feng asked.
"They were given to me by Miaomiao for protection. When she saved us, the other party had some guns. If we had our own, then we wouldn’t have been unable to escape after so long.
It’s just that, the other party didn’t want to waste bullets since they didn’t have many. Now that I have guns, I can protect myself better." Feng Tu wasn’t really lying. It was true that the gang that attacked them had a gun.
But no one knew that the gun didn’t have any bullets and was only used to scare the timid ones into handing over their supplies without a fight.
Those who fought like Feng Tu and her team were told by the gang that they didn’t want to waste bullets when they could kill them with bare hands.
The Feng couple had at first thought that owning a gun was too much, but hearing that their daughter was fighting with people wielding guns, they didn’t say anything anymore.
They just wanted to thank Chu Miao who gave their daughter something to protect her life in an emergency.
"If that’s the case, then it’s good that your friend gave you the guns, but aren’t they too many? Did she have any left for herself?" Mrs. Feng asked.
This was how you knew that people have a conscience. The Feng family didn’t even think about how to profit from the guns and instead started to worry about Chu Miao.
It wasn’t a waste to befriend such people in the apocalypse.
"She must have had enough left since she gave these to me. Don’t worry, even if she doesn’t have enough, I can always give some back to her." Feng Tu knew her friend well, so she knew that she must have a lot left.
She just said that to comfort her parents.
"Are you going to give some to your teammates?" Mr. Feng asked again.
"Yes, but only the men. I am not discriminating against Jiang Xixi but she has bad intentions. I won’t give her a weapon that she might use to shoot me in the back with." Feng Tu stated her decision.
Surprisingly, her parents supported her. They had realized that Jiang Xixi wasn’t a simple girl long ago but right now, choosing teammates relied more on strength than virtue or character.
However, if you can reduce danger to yourself, it’s better to do it. Not giving Jiang Xixi a gun was indeed avoiding trouble.
"What’s in the cooler box?" Mr. Feng asked.
"I don’t know. Miaomiao gave it to me before she left. She told me to bring it back and have mom open it." Feng Tu was also wondering what was in the box that made Chu Miao act so mysterious.
When Mrs. Feng heard that, she went forward to open the box.
As soon as they saw what was inside, the family of three widened their eyes in surprise.
