It might have sounded cruel, but Zerra still wanted to hear Jake’s opinion. He was quite an anomaly in his group of people. Although he had refused the Brown family’s invite and kept his morals, she didn’t want to take a gamble.
If he became a liability in the future because he had a soft heart and couldn’t bear to lose people familiar to him... she would let him be. He just wouldn’t get to hear important discussions next time.
Besides... Jake was in his tent sleeping. How did he get here?
If not for Zerra chasing after an escaping person and spreading her senses around, thus accidentally discovering traces of familiar auras, she wouldn’t have known he was about to lose his life.
"I will give you a minute to decide, Jake. Would you want to keep her alive or...?" She didn’t continue her words, but the meaning was clear.
Daisy struggled to breathe. Her face was squished. With crooked lips, she struggled to talk to Jake. "... Jake... s-save... me..."
"I promise... I will... repent..." Daisy let out a gasp, sobbing in pain as Zerra put more force on her head.
Jake’s lips parted, yet no words came out. Confusion was swirling in his eyes. Zerra waited patiently. It was indeed a difficult question for a soft-hearted person.
Daisy had been trying to kill him, yet he was still hesitating whether he wanted her alive. Daisy seemed to notice the seriousness in Zerra’s tone and was quick-witted enough to beg Jake.
Jake let out a breath. He knew he couldn’t waste Zerra’s time. She must have come here because of a coincidence. In order to execute their plan, the steps have to be taken carefully–it wasn’t easy.
"Please... " Jake started. Zerra sensed Daisy’s breathing became hard—she sobbed harder. Yet, the hostility permeating her figure didn’t lessen.
Zerra was sure that if she let Daisy go today, she would take revenge against them in the future. Actually, she had decided to kill Daisy.
Of course, she wouldn’t break her word if Jake wanted her to let Daisy go. She didn’t need to kill her right now; she could do it later. Anyway, Daisy would have the same ending–dead.
"I will let you decide, Miss Zerra. Please do as you see fit." Jake let out a huge breath. After he said that, it was as if a huge stone was lifted from his chest.
"Are you sure?" Zerra raised her eyebrows, sinking the pitchfork deeper into Daisy’s chest.
She must have looked like a true villain right now...
Daisy let out incoherent sounds of pain, gasping and coughing.
"Yes..." Jake exhaled.
Zerra bit her lip. Since it was up to her, then, she didn’t need to wait any longer.
"Wait! I... can... tell you..." Before Daisy could continue her words, Zerra brutally shoved the pitchfork to the woman’s heart, shattering it.
Daisy stopped breathing.
Zerra crouched down, taking out the crystal core from Daisy’s brain.
"Miss Zerra." Jake’s eyes went wide when he saw Zerra taking out Daisy’s crystal core. His heart was beating erratically, and he tried to hold back any negative thoughts.
Zerra took a flashlight from her inner space, inspecting the crystal core. It was sparkling in the light. The color was much clearer and more beautiful. Unlike the murky color from zombie and mutated animal crystal cores.

Although it looked more beautiful, Zerra didn’t even have an appetite for it. The crystal core felt dirty, as if an invisible dark energy was surrounding it.
The process of creating such a crystal core involved killing living humans after all.
Jake’s face visibly relaxed. He was a little ashamed of his own thoughts, especially when he noticed Zerra’s face. She was frowning deeply and full of disgust.
Zerra took a bottle of water and soap. She began to wash her hands clean. Even the zombie blood didn’t make her feel this uncomfortable.
"You should go back," she told him, dusting herself off as she stood up. "I still have something else to do."
With that, she put the flashlight back into her space and walked in darkness, like a predator. She had left her prey around the bushes...
Jake watched as her figure merged into the darkness. From the moving shadow until the dark completely enveloped her. He let out a sigh, wondering whether he should be relieved.
Zerra didn’t even ask why he had come there. Since he didn’t want to cause more trouble for her, he dragged his painful body away.
His head was still trying to process reality. He still couldn’t accept the reason Daisy was trying to kill him. Taking one last look in the direction Zerra was heading, he turned around to face Daisy’s corpse.
Why had Zerra left it intact...?
Ah... he understood. With that, he conjured countless small blades and chopped her body into pieces, leaving no trace of her existence as everything turned into bloody mush.
He headed to his tent, not once did he look back?
On Zerra’s side, she had returned to the dorm, sneaking around like a cat. Her senses were always on high alert. For this plan, only a few high-level ability users were allowed. It was also kept strictly confidential.
It had taken them hours to design the plan. Whose ability would counter whom, and who would take care of certain names.
In total, there was only her, Cassias, Nyra, Darren, and Sean.
She was currently moving to her next target to kill. Upon arriving in the target’s room, she narrowed her eyes. Everything was so quiet.
Then, she heard it. The voices of two people entering the room. The owner of the room wasn’t alone. There were two people, and they were awake.
She racked her brain, trying to come up with a solution as she hid inside a cupboard. The place was totally dark. It seemed they were trying to save power and resources.
"Did you know that someone in our dorm died?" Someone whispered.
"He died in his sleep, soundlessly." The person paused. "We only know he was killed."
"Do you think we are next? That’s why you came over to my room? Scared, huh?"
"If we can prevent the loss of life, why not?" The person’s voice was filled with hesitation. "How about we check this room too? There might be someone trying to kill us? I have been getting chills since earlier."
"Let’s check the cupboard."
As soon as the words were uttered, she heard footsteps and saw a faint light.
The cupboard door was opened.
