He paused and added in a soft voice, "If you can create some value of your own, then why would you have to go and do some odd jobs handed to you by someone else?" Bai Feng was not living in a daydream like the rest of society. The survivors, including Bai Xue and his parents, thought that they could go back to how they had lived in the past. But Bai Feng now knew that it was impossible.
They were no longer living in modern times; they were now living in an era which was similar to primitive times.
Thus, Bai Feng wondered what kind of jobs Yu Miaomiao was speaking of. When the world was about to end, what was she going to do by providing jobs that were equivalent to public sector jobs? Compared to her, Bai Feng thought that Bai Meiyue did a better job.
At least she had a very good idea about the outside world. Not only did Bai Meiyue push the survivors under her to fight the zombies, but she also taught them how to kill the zombies. Of course, she was not stupid enough to force those who were not awakened into killing zombies.
She only taught them how to defend themselves and then let them do the jobs that they could without any worries.

Those who knew medical skills could work in the hospital, and those who knew how to fight could either go out to collect crystal nuclei or act as the defender and protector.
He had taken a look at their base and he had to admit that Bai Meiyue had done a damn good job in arranging everything.
No one was allowed to eat for free. From a sixty-year-old man to a ten-year-old child, everyone was busy all day long.
Unlike the survivors who were brought by Bai Xue. Other than a few survivors who wanted to do something for Bai Feng in return for letting them stay under his wing, only Xiang Mei was worry-free; at least as long as she could get what she wanted, she would work tirelessly without complaining.
The rest of the survivors were not only cowardly but also cheeky. At first, they were willing to follow Bai Meiyue and Lei Qian when the two of them left the building and went to hunt for supplies. They would pick up the supplies that were left behind by Bai Meiyue and Lei Qian. But after doing it a few times, they realised that the supermarket had run out of supplies and thus, they stopped going out.
Now they were staying at home all day long and just waiting to be fed.
And just like Bai Meiyue said, at first, the rule of letting everyone hand in their supplies did work. But after some time, the survivors who were willing to risk their lives and go out to fetch supplies found it unfair. They thought that it was indeed too unfair for them to hand over all of their supplies while some had none.
Thus, once they mustered enough courage, they all ran back and never came back.
And the remaining ones? They were like Bai Xue and his parents. No matter what was happening around them, they didn't care about it. They only cared about staying in the safety of the home and never stepping out. They stayed at home all day and never thought about stepping out.
The only times they moved from their beds or couches was when they saw Bai Feng return with the supplies. Only then would they move as if they were given an adrenaline shot. If not, they could lie on the bed or couches all day long without moving an inch!
This kind of treatment was simply too unbalanced.
