Lei Qian exhaled heavily as he turned around and looked at the entrance of the penthouse where his grandfather was standing. The man had just gotten out of the hospital bed and had just started to get better, but his grandmother didn’t seem to be bothered by any of that nonsense.
After all, back in her days, people didn’t need the time to recover after going through a life-threatening accident. They would get back on their feet in a matter of seconds.
Bai Meiyue turned to look at Old Madam Lei as well, a furrow decorating her brows. She turned to look at Lei Qian and questioned, "They didn’t take her with them?"
"How would they make sure that I will come to save them if they don’t leave her behind?" he remarked as Lei Qian made his way to where his grandmother was making a fuss with his grandfather. He said to her coldly, "You don’t need to bother grandfather. I have already told you that I am not going to save Lei Wu or anyone else. Since they dared to walk in the pit that Yu Miaomiao dug for them, they might as well lie there and die."
He then turned to look at Old Master Lei and said to him with a calm and steady voice, "Come inside, grandfather. I want to introduce you to Yueyue."
Old Master Lei nodded. He had been trying to shake off Old Lady Lei for a while, but the woman had been clinging onto him without letting him go. However, before Old Master Lei could take a step inside the penthouse, Old Lady Lei reached out and caught him by his wrist. She said to him, "How can you do such a thing? How can you leave Ah Wu and our son in such a dangerous situation? Don’t you feel sorry for them?"
Old Master Lei shook his hand off and then clipped in a harsh voice, "If I feel sorry for them, who would feel sorry for Ah Qian? You want him to join the base and follow that woman? Just look at the kind of tyranny she is showing towards the ability users. I bet the second Ah Qian joins that base, she will skin several layers of his skin."
However, this had nothing to do with Old Lady Lei. When she saw that the plan which she had come up with for Lei Wu was not working as they had anticipated, she couldn’t help but panic. She said in a hurry, "Why are you so cruel? He is an ability user. What can happen to him? He would be fine! But Ah Wu is not. If he doesn’t go to save him, then what will happen to Ah Wu and our son? At least think about them a little."
As soon as Old Lady Lei finished speaking, Bai Meiyue, who was standing behind Lei Qian, couldn’t help but laugh.
Old Lady Lei turned and looked at the woman who had laughed at her. Her eyes flickered with anger, and she said to Bai Meiyue, "And what are you laughing at?"
"You." Bai Meiyue brought her hand down and replied without holding back. She tilted her head to one side and questioned, "I hope you didn’t think that Master Lei would go to rescue your son and grandson even though they had treated him so harshly. If you did, then I have to say that you are really optimistic to the point of oblivion."
"What you?" Bai Meiyue’s eyes turned cold, and she spoke in a harsh voice, "There is no law that states that he needs to respect you just because you are his grandmother. The world is coming to an end; children will even eat the flesh of their parents if they have to. Compared to that, who do you think you are? Be happy that you are even alive and not chopped up and eaten."
Once she had scared off Old Lady Lei, she pulled Lei Qian inside along with Old Master Lei and then closed the door on Old Lady Lei’s face.
At first, the old lady of the Lei family was too scared to say anything, but the bang of the door jolted her out of her reverie, and her expression changed. She looked at the door that had been closed in her face, and her face turned red with anger. She finally realised what had happened, and her anger reached its peak.
"You bitch! Who do you think you are? Just because you shamelessly clung onto my grandson, you think that you can make the decisions in my family!? I am telling you, there is no way a whore like you will get a place in my family and neither will that bastard and evil seed in your belly—ARGGG!!"
Old Lady Lei scrambled backwards when she saw a cold blade attacking her. Her old feet couldn’t carry her far, and she staggered backwards before falling onto the floor, her eyes widened, and she looked at Bai Meiyue in horror. "Are you crazy!?" She raised her hand and touched her nose to make sure that she still had it. Just now, she was sure that the blade of the butcher knife was going to cut her nose in half.
Bai Meiyue glanced at the woman coldly. She said to her, "If you want to keep yelling, then go ahead; I will not stop you, but if you dare to say another word against my child, then I wouldn’t mind cutting that long tongue of yours."
Old Lady Lei shivered when she heard the words of the woman. Though she was quite angry at Bai Meiyue’s actions, she thought that the woman needed to please her if she wanted to become a part of the Lei family.
But what she didn’t know was that Bai Meiyue had no such intention. To her, only Lei Qian mattered. She didn’t care about anything else. Anyway, the world was coming to an end; who cared about the past glories of the Lei family?
