Unfortunately, Fu Wan was stubborn through and through. She demanded that Shen Zhen come and treat her in the north wing. Of course, Shen Zhen didn’t accept her wilful demands. "I suggest you should go and talk with Old Master Bai, Leader Xiao." Finally, a man spoke up and said reasonably, "He is treated quite respectfully here. I believe that if he speaks up, we will be able to buy the meat without handing in the crystal nuclei. At least until the young master returns. We can then repay the crystal nuclei that we owe, Miss Bai."
Xiao Chenye couldn’t think of anything better either, so he also agreed and then went to look for Bai Meiyue. When he arrived at the mansion where Bai Meiyue and her family lived, they were just having dinner. However, before he could even start enjoying his meal, he heard that the leader of the bodyguards, Xiao Chenye, had come looking for him. He frowned. Not wanting to meet the man at all, but when he thought about how Xiao Chenye would never come looking for him for no reason, he allowed him to come inside.
Xiao Chenye had his head lowered. Even though no one made things difficult for her, they didn’t give him a good look either. The more he tried to pretend that everything was fine, the more disdainful their gazes became. In the end, he could only lower his head and enter the mansion like he was a criminal who had committed the most heinous crime.
"What’s going on?" Old Master Bai licked the fat off his lips and turned to look at Xiao Chenye. He didn’t want to waste his time with this brat when such a delicious meal was in front of him. His stomach was rumbling, and it seemed like the mice inside were just minutes away from starting a war.
