With the roaring of the excavator, the sand was shoveled onto the truck.
Such a commotion, yet no other zombies appeared, which puzzled Li Yu.
Seeing Bai Jie still investigating, Li Yu turned his gaze away from the river and approached them, asking, "How is it? Any findings?"
"It must be influenced by the water quality. The mercury and lead content in this water is more than ten times that of normal water. Perhaps the zombie was affected by the water," Bai Jie said, lifting her head.
Upon hearing this, Li Yu thought for a moment and asked He Chao who was nearby, "Are there any chemical plants around here?"
He Chao thought for a bit and replied, "I remember, upstream, there’s a chemical plant. I recall that before the apocalypse, it made the news because local residents collectively opposed its construction, but somehow, it still got built."
Li Yu frowned; his intuition told him that the change in the zombie was definitely related to the chemical plant upstream.

There were six trucks that came out this trip, along with an SUV. Li Yu got into the SUV and said to He Chao, "You come with me upstream to check it out, let the others go back first."
He Chao nodded, then briefly instructed his men before getting into the vehicle.

Those villagers were planning to report further, but before it could become a major issue, the zombie outbreak occurred."
Li Yu fell silent for a while and stopped talking.
Everyone in the vehicle had heavy thoughts.
Discovering such a mutated zombie, everyone felt nervous.
Soon, they arrived at the entrance of the chemical plant.
The plant’s gates were still tightly closed, and the sign at the gate had fallen to the ground.
The originally white walls were now mottled, giving the whole chemical plant an aura of dead silence.
Li Yu took out his automatic rifle and then got out of the car.
He walked to the main gate.
He saw a padlock locking the gate.
Two shots broke the padlock, then he pushed the gates open.
Once the gates were opened, the inside of the chemical plant was quiet, utterly silent.
For some reason, even though there was no one inside the whole chemical plant, Li Yu’s hairs stood on end, his sixth sense warning him of danger.
He waited in place for a while.
Dapao and Yang Tianlong also came over.
"Brother Yu, shall we go in and check?" Dapao said, attempting to head inside.
"Don’t go inside," Li Yu shouted hastily.
Dapao immediately stopped, then turned around and asked Li Yu, "What’s happened..."
Li Yu’s automatic rifle immediately opened fire, sweeping towards what was behind Dapao.
Dapao quickly ran towards Li Yu’s side; it was obvious what had happened.
There must be zombies behind him.
And over by the vehicle, Bai Jie and Xiao Lan, along with He Chao who had also alighted, saw the zombies running out of the chemical plant.
Nearly a hundred zombies rushed out at an extremely fast speed.
As Li Yu fired, Yang Tianlong next to him also raised his gun and began to fire at the zombies inside.
Dapao took a few steps and reached Li Yu’s side, immediately turning to fire at the zombies behind him.
The zombies were glowing green and even faster than those encountered by the river.
But they were no match for the speed of bullets.
Li Yu’s shooting was exceptional; Dapao’s skills were only slightly less proficient than Li Yu’s before Third Uncle exposed his true skills.
The three of them fired at the zombies.
He Chao and the two women, Bai Jie, were not idle either; they immediately ran over to help.
He Chao also had authority to use firearms, and Bai Jie had brought a handgun.
Four automatic rifles and two handguns kept firing into the chemical plant.
The gunfire was loud and continuous.
The chemical plant’s door was not large, so these zombies could only run out from this entrance.
Although they were running fast, the size of the door limited how many could exit at once.

Everyone was relieved, especially Dapao, thankful that Li Yu had warned him not to go in directly.
If they had gone inside and been surrounded by zombies, even with firearms and despite their speed, it would’ve been over.
The zombies, as if racing towards their doom, continually ran out from the plant.
But, under the firepower array set up by the six, these newly emerged zombies were quickly dealt with.
Li Yu ran out of ammunition, threw the magazine to the ground with one hand, while he clamped the gun under his arm and took another magazine from his waist with his other hand.
