The wind howled and the rain poured down.
Pitter-patter, it struck the roof of the car, creating a tremendous noise.
The Unimog RV charged ahead; its headlights flickered, cutting through the dark road like a sharp sword parting the black rain.
The hundred or so zombies ahead were completely incapable of resisting the extensively modified Unimog.
A zombie’s corpse was directly hit onto the windshield but quickly slid off.
"What a talent this kid He Bing is, we should have him modify this vehicle again later," Li Yu couldn’t help but exclaim upon seeing the vehicle’s performance and durability.
In two minutes, they had broken through the zombie horde that was just in front of them.
They were now left in the distance, behind the vehicle.
The rain showed no signs of stopping, continuing to pour down from the sky.
Just one hour ago, it had been clear skies, and then suddenly, down it came. Without any warning at all.
The clouds were densely packed, and it looked like the rain would not stop anytime soon.
The drone was still buzzing in the air, the pitch-black stormy environment taking a great toll on it.
Li Tie piloted the drone, doing his best to prevent the heavy raindrops from bringing it down.
The sky had grown much darker, and the terrain, already full of mountains and forests, showed no signs of greenery, only pitch-black darkness.
Li Yu shouted into the walkie-talkie from inside the vehicle: "The vehicles behind must keep up, don’t get separated! All vehicles, report your status now."
"Heavy-duty truck 2, no problem."
"Heavy-duty truck 1, no problem."
"Off-road RV 2, no problem."
Hearing everyone’s responses yet not hearing Yang Tianlong’s, Li Yu became suddenly tense and immediately called out, "Yang Tianlong, Li Tie, where’s your vehicle?"
A burst of electronic static.

The best strategy would be to slow down, but they could not afford to do so right then, as so many zombies were chasing them, slowing down would be tantamount to waiting for death!
"Be careful!" Li Yu looked up and saw an abandoned vehicle ahead, quickly warning.
Li Gang’s reaction was swift. He dodged it immediately and then warned the rest of the convoy.
The group then continued driving for a distance.
Li Yu picked up the walkie-talkie and said, "Check, have we shaken off the zombies?"
At the very back, Li Tie rolled down the window, and the sound of rain suddenly poured in.
Li Tie ignored it, looked around, then stuck his head out slightly to see that there were no more zombies behind.
He then relayed this situation to the rest.
Everyone’s hearts settled a bit, but Li Yu still did not relax, he said, "Do not let your guard down, we have only temporarily escaped danger, but we’re not completely safe. Keep alert, all vehicles, keep up."
Looking at the map, Li Yu studied for a while, then pointing at one of the roads, said to the people behind, "What do you think about this route?"

With the rain pouring down, Jinxian County had a sizable population before the end times, which meant a large number of zombies.
By bypassing Jinxian and taking the side route, they would avoid zombies. Although it would mean a longer journey, it was certainly better than facing a horde of zombies head-on in Jinxian.
So he spoke up, "I think Director Li’s idea might be to avoid zombies as much as possible. Taking a longer route but at least not having to face a massive swarm of zombies."
Li Yu nodded his head.
Luo, however, frowned and said, "If there are zombies on the highway, and since we haven’t been to that area, it could be dangerous if the highway is full of abandoned vehicles, and we could get trapped there."
