Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies Chapter 134

Ethan interrogated the last remaining robber while the others disposed of the dead bodies.

At first, the robber was tight-lipped, but after enduring Ethan’s torture, he eventually broke down and revealed what he knew.

Ethan soon discovered that they were just a small-time robbery organization operating in this area.

They were stationed in Building B, but only a few remained.

Since they were no longer a threat, Ethan then finished him off.

Afterward, they heard a click from the door, and Dr. Paige appeared.

Dr. Paige had already assessed the situation through the peephole, and when he recognized the familiar voices, he felt confident that it was the Caldwell family.

But the moment he caught the pungent scent of blood, he frowned; there were numerous dead bodies scattered around.

It suddenly hit him that if the Caldwell family hadn’t come to his aid, he would have certainly met his end today.

"I... thank you. You’ve saved me once again," Dr. Paige sighed. "I try to stay low-key, but I still ended up being targeted."

He wasn’t usually emotional, but the unfolding events had shaken him.

This time, they were the targets. He felt no fear of death and was prepared to fight with all his strength.

However, a deep concern gnawed at him: if he were to die today, his sister might face a tragic fate.

"Don’t thank us," Elena said firmly. "They targeted you because you’re close to us. It’s not your fault, but theirs."

"But I’m still thankful," Dr. Paige insisted, his voice filled with genuine gratitude despite Elena’s words.

"Alright, how is your sister?" Elena asked, changing the topic.

"She’s doing fine now," Dr. Paige replied, a hint of relief in his voice. "The medicine you gave me works wonders."

The medicine Elena gave was special—it was made using the herbs from the space and well water, which helped his sister heal quickly.

"That’s good to hear."

Noticing they were busy, Dr. Paige offered his assistance: "I’ll help you dispose of the dead bodies."

They swiftly joined forces, tossing the bodies through the windows.

In no time, the surging water outside carried the dead bodies away, sweeping them out of sight.

"If you have time, come visit us," Ethan said, noticing how well Dr. Paige fit in with their group.

Dr. Paige nodded, thanked them again, and closed his door tightly.

After that, everyone returned to their units.

The next day, Elena and Ethan woke up to the loud shouts and persistent knocking on their door.

The noise startled them from their sleep, and they looked at each other with confusion, wondering what was happening outside that caused this disturbance.

When Ethan opened the door, they saw Andrei standing there, his face filled with urgency as if he was ready to share something important.

"Why are you so restless early in the morning? You’re already making so much noise!" Elena called out, her voice a mix of annoyance and confusion.

"Sis Elena, the fog was already gone, and the residents are happily gathering on their balconies!" Andrei exclaimed, his face lighting up with excitement as he shared the good news.

"Really? That’s great news!" Elena replied with a smile, though a hint of worry crossed her face.

She knew the fog would lift eventually, but deep down, she feared it would come back even more dangerous than before.

"Alright, we’ll freshen up a bit and then gather at Grandpa Caldwell’s unit to discuss this situation," Ethan said.

"Go ahead, Brother Ethan," Andrei replied, then left to knock on other units to inform the others.

Returning to their unit, Elena quickly stepped onto the balcony to see what was happening outside.

The fog had cleared showing the full extent of the damage caused by the typhoon.

Elena sighed, feeling a bit down. She remembered that in her past life, when the fog lifted, pests would come out, causing problems and spreading diseases.

’We’re not finished with the fog virus yet; now another threat is on the way.’

Noticing his wife’s sad demeanor, Ethan quickly comforted her. "Isn’t it good that the fog has cleared? Why the long face?"

"Just a little concern, and I feel uneasy. Husband, have you double-checked for any holes in our unit?" Elena asked, her voice tinged with worry.

"Wife, is there something wrong?" Ethan replied, embracing her from behind while looking at the devastating scene outside.

The rain was still pouring, but the wind was a bit weaker than in previous weeks.

"Pests might show up soon, so I just want to make sure there are no ways for them to enter our unit," Elena explained.

"Don’t worry, you’ve been reminding me all the time. As a dutiful husband, of course, I check it regularly," Ethan reassured her, trying to ease her worry.

It’s not that Elena was overreacting; she had simply had enough of these pests.

In her past life, cockroaches and rats had been everywhere, and when Ethan was bedridden due to an injury, she felt completely overwhelmed.

As someone who didn’t yet know how to handle life’s challenges, the presence of these pests caused her constant anxiety.

The memories of that difficult time lingered, making her shudder a little.

"As long as you listen well, husband, you’ll have your reward," Elena said mischievously, then leaned in and kissed his cheek.

Ethan was excitedly surprised that his wife was so open-minded today.

"Wife... are you saying that as long as I listen, you’ll give me good rewards? Well, I want..."

But before he could demand, Elena interrupted him by placing her hand gently over his lips and said, "Of course, when have I ever lied? Alright, let’s go to Grandpa now."

"Wife, let’s have a quick shower first," Ethan protested playfully, teasing her.

"But I’m already hungry?" Elena replied in a pitiful voice.

Ethan conceded, seeing the pitiful expression on his wife’s face.

"Alright, let’s change clothes first."

Their playful banter lifted Elena’s spirits as she prepared for today’s agenda—to sell supplies in exchange for jades and antiques.
