Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies Chapter 86

Returning to the RV, Ethan quickly went to find Oslo to ask about the current situation while Elena placed little Mia in the RV’s living room and then started cleaning Mimi.

"Sis Ewe, where is Gwandma?" Little Mia asked.

"She’s probably cooking your favorite food. Go and check the kitchen. I still need to clean Mimi," Elena replied.

"Okay, Sis Ewe!" Mia responded excitedly.

Little Mia ran to the kitchen and saw her Grandma Ford cooking. She immediately greeted her with a big smile.

"Gwandma, little Mia is here!" she exclaimed.

"Oh! My precious little girl, you finally came to visit me!" Grandma Ford said happily.

"Just wait a moment while I prepare your favorite chicken nuggets."

Little Mia then sat down at the table, excitedly waiting for her grandma to finish cooking.

Meanwhile, Elena was trying to clean the cat, but Mimi kept hissing at her in frustration.

’Does Mimi prefer her husband to clean her instead?’

"Hey, Mimi. I’m just cleaning your dirty fur. Why are you angry with me?" Elena asked, puzzled by the cat’s irritation.

"Meow~meow~meow~~~~" Mimi replied, her tail flicking in annoyance.

’You guys didn’t go and capture the big, delicious fish.’

Mimi was a Himalayan cat. Her current hobby was watching the big fish in the lake, Dolphie, swim gracefully.

"Okay! Calm down, Mimi. Are you hungry? Do you want fish and fried chicken?" Elena suggested, gently patting her fur in an attempt to soothe her.

She hoped the idea of a tasty meal would calm Mimi and ease her frustration.

"Meow~meow~meowww!" Mimi responded, her mood brightening at the mention of meat.

’Yeah, I’m hungry. Bring it here, please. I want to eat.’

Mimi moved her paw on the table, clearly indicating that she wanted the food placed near her side.

Elena almost burst out laughing at this eccentric cat. With a wave of her hand, rows of meat dishes lined up on the table.

"Okay, you can only have two dishes at most. Which one do you want to choose first? Don’t worry, these dishes don’t have any seasonings; they’re specially made for you and Poochi," Elena said with a smile.

"Meow~meow~~meow~~~~meow," Mimi replied, her eyes darting between the options.

’I want this one and this one. Why only two? I want all of them!’ she seemed to protest, her little paws reaching out as if to grab every dish in sight.

Elena couldn’t help but laugh at Mimi’s determination, finding her antics utterly cute.

"I said you can only take two dishes. Otherwise, I will take them, and there will be no more food for Mimi. Do you want your cat food?" Elena teased.

Panic set in for Mimi as she quickly picked the grilled fish and the cooked boneless chicken.

’This one and that one,’ her little paws pointed at her final choices.

"Good choice! Now eat your meal. Remember, this treat can only be eaten once a month. Tomorrow, you’re going back to your healthy food—your cat food—just like Poochi does," Elena said with a grin.

"Meowwww~meow~meow," Mimi protested, her eyes narrowing in discontent.

’Nooo, I don’t like cat food!’

"I don’t take no for an answer; you must agree," Elena said playfully, crossing her arms with a mock-serious expression.

’Fine,’ she seemed to concede, her ears drooping slightly as she returned to her meal.

Elena finally calmed the feisty cat, though she remained puzzled about why Mimi had been so upset.

The last time she checked on her, Mimi had been lurking around the Southern Lake sector.

’Is there something there? I need to investigate when I have time.’

She then walked over to the RV window to check the weather; it was still gloomy outside, with dark clouds hanging overhead.

Sighing, she turned away from the window and headed to join her husband.

Seeing her husband and Oslo in deep conversation, she didn’t interrupt them. Instead, she listened to their discussion.

"The street was full of branches, and the road was damaged, so I had to remove them covertly so we could pass," Oslo said.

"How long have you been driving since then?" Ethan asked.

"Probably around two hours now. We’re almost at the city center, where the road is already clear of debris, but it’s still uneven, making it difficult to navigate."

"Do you want to rest for a while, I can drive"

"Chief, I’m fine. I can still drive," Oslo assured them.

Knowing that Oslo was doing well, Ethan decided to take a lunch break first. He had already noticed his wife waiting for him a while ago, so he invited her to join him for lunch.

"Wife, let’s eat first," Ethan suggested. "We can tackle what we discussed earlier afterward."

Elena nodded and set the food on the table.

"So, the roads are still unclear in other areas, but near the city center, the debris has been cleared," Ethan explained. "If we maintain this speed, we should arrive at Camel Hotel soon."

"Okay, do we have any updates from the government? And what’s causing this gloomy sky?" Elena asked.

"According to Oslo, a government radio station reported that a low-pressure area has been spotted," Ethan replied.

Elena felt uneasy. She sensed that this was not just a low-pressure area; her instincts screamed that this was the storm that marked the beginning of a new disaster.

"I doubt it," she said, her voice steady but concerned. "In my dreams, a typhoon followed after the earthquake. I don’t want to be negative, but we should prepare."

Ethan nodded and consoled his beloved wife, hugging her tightly.

Seeing them being affectionate, little Mia covered her eyes with her hands.

"Bwother, what awe you doing?" she asked, peeking through her fingers.

"Nothing. Your Sis Ele just got dirt in her eyes, so I’m helping her clean it up," Ethan replied with a grin.

"Big liar, I saw you mooching together," Mia giggled.

She then ran back to Grandma Ford to share the news. Elena and Ethan couldn’t help but smile, their unease easing for a moment.

But before they could feel too complacent, little Mia returned, shouting, "Sis Ewe, look! There awe a lot of dots in the sky!"

They quickly turned their attention to the gloomy sky, noticing numerous birds flying overhead, desperately escaping in search of a safe place. Within just a few minutes, the birds vanished from sight, leaving a lingering sense of foreboding in their hearts.

Suddenly, the first raindrops began to fall. It started as a light drizzle, accompanied by a gentle breeze, but it quickly intensified into a heavy downpour.

Elena and Ethan exchanged worried glances, but their moment was interrupted by Little Mia’s excited voice.

"Sis Ewe, it’s raining!" Little Mia exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with joy, completely unaware that this was the beginning of a storm disaster.

"Don’t get close to the window; stay here with Mimi in the living room," Elena said worriedly.

Afterward, she turned her attention to the radio, trying to catch the latest news. The TV station was down, and the electricity was still under repair, likely to remain out due to the storm.

"Where are we now?" Ethan asked, glancing out at the heavy rain.

"We were almost there; we’re currently on the path to Building D, and ours is in Building C of Camel Tower," Elena replied.

She added, "If we maintain this speed, we should arrive in about ten to twenty more minutes."

"Don’t worry, we’ll make it," Ethan reassured her.

Elena nodded and rechecked their surroundings. The wind was picking up and growing stronger, along with the relentless rain.

Little Mia was engrossed in watching the pouring rain when suddenly, a flash of lightning split the sky, followed by a loud boom of thunder.

She was taken aback, her eyes widening in fear, and then she burst into tears. The sudden crack of thunder had startled her, and the howling wind intensity overwhelmed her.

"It’s okay, Sis Ele is here."

Little Mia clung to Elena, seeking comfort as the chaos outside continued.
