In the video, Wang Yun’s figure was clearly visible. He lay on the ground, feigning pain and clutching his foot. He looked up, making no effort to hide his face from the crowd. His eyes deliberately scanned his surroundings, not at all like someone genuinely injured. A truly injured person would be more focused on their wound, looking down in pain. Wang Yun, however, seemed like he was acting, trying to draw attention. It was as if he had a plan.
Watching the video, Wu Yaoming frowned. Ying Yuezi looked at the group.
“I’m sure you all feel the same way. Wang Yun’s sudden appearance is no accident. And he showed his real face, claiming his foot was run over. With his skills, do you believe that?”
Ying Yuezi’s words struck a chord with everyone.
After a brief silence, Wu Mingyu asked, “What’s Wang Yun up to this time? Why would he risk showing his real face?”
“He’s probably trying to humiliate us, creating a big scene to prove we can’t catch him,” Hardy said angrily.
Wang Yue shook her head. “It’s definitely not that simple. Since joining the show, Wang Yun has never once gone out of his way to provoke us. Even when he took action, it was for revenge or self-defense, not to show off.”
Ying Yuezi agreed. “Exactly. I believe Wang Yun’s sudden change isn’t to grab our attention. He’s looking for someone.”
“Looking for someone?” Wu Mingyu asked.
The surrounding captains agreed.
“It seems that if we want to catch Wang Yun, we need to find out who he’s looking for,” Werner added.
“If Wang Yun is using this method to attract someone’s attention, it means he’s out of other options and taking a risk. Imagine if I lost a man and was pushed to the brink. What would I do then?” Werner said, almost as if talking to himself, putting himself in Wang Yun’s shoes.
“I’m Wang Yun, and I’m definitely out for revenge. Looks like we need to stick together to avoid getting ambushed,” Wu Mingyu said.
“What’s to fear? He’s just got those slingshots. What good are they?” Hardy chimed in right after.
Everyone’s eyes widened in surprise. Slingshots! Weapons!
Of course, if Wang Yun was seeking revenge, he’d need weapons. But he had no way to obtain them. So, the person he was looking for must be someone who could supply him with explosives.
Wang Yue, Werner, and Ying Yuezi shouted simultaneously.
“It has to be weapons. But who in the entire Xiyun City could supply him with such things? Is he planning to use real ones?” Wu Mingyu asked, still puzzled.
But his words made everyone else realize the same thing, especially Werner, who quickly exchanged a shocked glance with Ying Yuezi.
“That’s right, he wants the real deal,” Ying Yuezi said solemnly.
Her words made everyone gasp. Wang Yun was playing with fire. If he was going for real weapons, was he willing to risk his life? This was just a show where he played a criminal, he wasn’t actually one. Had he been playing the role for so long that he believed it?
“Notify the showrunners. This situation is too serious. We might need to involve the police,” Wang Yue said gravely. “We can’t let him take such risks, whether or not we catch him.”
Ying Yuezi and the others nodded in agreement, except for Hardy, who seemed confused.
“Why would he do something so dangerous? Even if he got his hands on real weapons, he can’t use them, they’d have to be handed over to the authorities,” Hardy said.
Werner rolled his eyes at Hardy. “He could trade them with the production team for equivalent prop weapons. Why else would he expose himself to everyone?”
“Damn! He’s really lost it,” Hardy exclaimed.
Upon realizing Wang Yun’s true intentions, Wang Yue quickly contacted the production team. But surprisingly, the producer’s team decided to observe and not interfere. The show was the show, and they couldn’t collaborate with the police. Everything had to be handled internally, and the producer wasn’t fully aware of Wang Yun’s plans either.
Clearly, the production team had no intention of helping them. It seemed if they wanted to take action, they’d have to do it themselves. Asking for outside help just wasn’t an option.
After being turned down by the producer, Ying Yuezi and the others held an emergency meeting overnight. Since that route was a dead end, their only option now was to search the areas where Wang Yun had been spotted. If they could catch him before he achieved his goal, they would not only succeed but also stop his reckless actions. Additionally, they could avoid his revenge, bringing everything to a close.
Even though it felt like they were back to square one, at least they now understood Wang Yun’s intentions.
Meanwhile, Wang Yun didn’t reunite with Brother Hu and the others. His actions during the day had already drawn enough attention. Generally, night was when the people he was looking for would be active. He hoped to get lucky and find them directly. If he could handle it himself, he would get what he needed faster.
Honestly, Wang Yun didn’t see that gang as a serious threat. He was quietly walking through the village, which reminded him a lot of the one he used to live in. The roads had no streetlights, and there were occasional dog barks. The stillness of 2 AM could be quite eerie.
Wang Yun felt the dagger at his waist, which he had bought at the Yunlong Community market. He didn’t buy too many, just four fruit knives. Even so, they had more lethality than his slingshot.
With his enhanced hearing, Wang Yun carefully listened for any sounds. He heard many things he couldn’t describe, but mostly it was arguments. It took him an hour to walk through one village, but he found nothing.
This was the sixth time Wang Yun sighed. Every time he finished searching a village, he let out a sigh.
“It’s been thirteen hours already. Are these idiots really not using their phones? The video online should’ve gone viral by now. I’m somewhat of a celebrity, right?” Wang Yun grumbled, his tone tinged with frustration.
His disgruntled, almost pouting tone made the viewers in the livestream laugh. Just hearing Wang Yun’s proud but disappointed voice was incredibly endearing.
