As a Grey Knight In Naruto Chapter 87

The sanctum beneath Konoha stirred with motion.

Silent, save for the hum of suspended chakra and the whisper of psychically-responsive steel, Hajime stood at the center of his underground cathedral. Pale light pulsed from the containment pods behind him, four organs still growing within, but he paid them no mind now.

Today was not a day for reflection.

Today was a day for armor.

He stepped forward, and the armor answered.

With a subtle pulse of telekinesis, the interlocking plates of his battle suit rose from their dormant state. Matte-gray segments floated in sequence, hovering in the air like a shattered statue mid-assembly. Each piece shimmered faintly with psychic resonance, guided not by machinery, but by intent.

First, the chestplate moved, mengraved with the script Armatus Puritate Propositi, and slid into place with a dull thrum. Then came the greaves, pauldrons, and vambraces, each piece fastening itself along his limbs with precision. Flexible black weave interlaced automatically beneath the plating, forming a bodysuit of reinforced mesh between the heavier plates.

He didn't raise a hand.

He didn't speak a word.

The armor came to him as if it knew him.

The helm was last. It floated before his face for a moment, as if waiting for permission.

Hajime tilted his head forward.

The helm sealed in a soft lock, encasing him fully.

The chamber lights dimmed slightly as the armor synchronized with his chakra signature, pulsing once in recognition.

Fully armored, Hajime turned toward the sealed exit. A psychic pulse was all it took. The circular wall shimmered and parted like mist, revealing the stone corridor beyond.

He stepped through it without pause.

Behind him, the door sealed again, and the sanctum returned to silence.

The Hokage Tower loomed above Konoha's skyline, its polished walls and banners catching the noonday light. Civilian chatter filled the streets, but within the tower, the air was tense. Word of the recent border provocation hadn't been made public, but among shinobi circles, whispers ran fast.

Outside the Tower's side wing, the entrance had been subtly remodeled, not for appearance, but necessity. The door frame had been widened, the ceiling reinforced, and chakra-sensitive plates fitted along the base. All to accommodate one man.

A soft hiss of air greeted Hajime's approach. The reinforced door slid aside as he neared it, reacting to his presence.

He ducked slightly, just slightly, as he entered.

At 2.2 meters tall, fully armored, Hajime made even the highest-ranking jōnin feel like genin in his shadow. His boots echoed quietly across the polished floor as he advanced, heavy but measured, never rushed.

Ninja stationed along the hall stepped aside without needing to be told. A few saluted. Most just stared. One ANBU bowed.

No words.

Only reverence.

Tsunade stood at her desk, a scroll sealed with red wax resting in her hands. Shizune stood nearby, arms folded, her gaze flicking toward the doorway just as Hajime entered.

Even Tsunade paused a moment when she saw him fully armored.

"You're really going?" she asked.

"Yes," Hajime answered, stepping closer. "They'll try again."

She offered him the scroll, thick, bound with sealing thread, the Hokage's crest stamped across the wax.

"Operational authority. In case they test our patience again. Open it only when you're there."

He took the scroll and stored it within the locking compartment at his hip. The click of the seal closing echoed slightly.

Tsunade stepped back to her desk and pulled open a drawer, revealing a second sealed mission folder, marked in red.

Hajime glanced at it.

"Foreshadowing?" he asked.

Tsunade's eyes remained on the drawer. "Contingency. That's all."

There was a long silence.

Then she looked at him again.

"They'll think they can get away with it. Play diplomacy while striking in the shadows. They've done it before."

"They won't do it again," Hajime replied.

He moved to the edge of the office's wide window, looking out over the Hidden Leaf Village. His reflection, distorted by the chakra-treated glass, stared back in the steel-gray of his helm.

Then, quietly, firmly:

"I'll go. I'll hit them hard enough they won't try a second time."

Tsunade was quiet. Then her voice came low, filled with resolve, and something else, something like faith.

"Good."

She stepped forward, placing a hand against the edge of his armored shoulder, not to stop him, but to send him.

"Go then," she said. "Let them remember why Konoha still stands." (cadia stands!)

Hajime gave a short nod, then turned and walked to the door.

His armored footfalls echoed again through the chamber.

Outside, the clouds shifted. The wind began to turn north.
