Spicy Girl, being a true Sichuan native, found it even more painful to swallow. She couldn’t stomach it, yet she couldn’t bear to waste the money she’d spent, so she had to force it down.
Shi Nian, seeing this, felt quite sympathetic and suggested, "Next time, why don’t I buy some ingredients and we can cook something ourselves? I’ve seen old-style clay pots for pickled vegetables at the Chinese supermarket. We can buy a fish to stew, that would definitely taste better."
Authentic Sichuan food requires ingredients flown in directly from Sichuan; although it’s a hassle, what can you do when Chinese people can’t do without that taste? So now, Chinese supermarkets also sell air-flown ingredients.
Spicy Girl clapped her hands immediately: "I’ve been thinking about that for ages. If we can really buy an authentic old clay pot, I would be overjoyed."
The two of them lingered over their meal for a while, and by the time they returned to the dorm, everyone had finished dinner and were sitting in the lounge with Tang Yanqing.

In imagination, Mrs. Tang must be a high-and-mighty, unapproachable type, right? But in Tang Yanqing’s description, she sounded like a lovely elder.
Tang Yanqing eyed the smile spreading subtly across her face and laughed along: "Yeah, my mom is really an adorably annoying little old lady. I’ll introduce you next time there’s a chance."
Shi Nian finally snapped back and quickly waved her hand: "Ah, there’s no need!"
