Feng Qingxue’s face turned beet red, "Rogue!" She swore softly under her breath.
"Dating without the aim of marriage is roguish behavior, but we’re already a married, loving couple!" Lu Jiang stoutly defended, "If I hadn’t been so exhausted, so sleepy yesterday, then we might have experienced the sweet reunion of a married couple!"
A sweet reunion of a married couple?
Feng Qingxue spat at him and quickened her pace, running ahead to pull away from him.
Despite being a small distance, Lu Jiang didn’t allow it to exist. He closed the gap in no time, and naturally took her hand again. Feng Qingxue shook her hand several times to break free but to no avail, and let him hold it.
Knowing that his son had gone out to pick up his daughter-in-law and leaving the child alone at home, Lu’s father grew worried. He sat patiently at the entrance of the cowshed, reminiscing about the ups and downs of life while keeping a watchful eye on his son’s house. It was not until he saw his son and daughter-in-law returning home affectionately that he brushed the accumulated snow off his military coat and returned to his room.
"Uncle, aunt, you’re back?" Lu Tianjun, who was reading by the lamp, rubbed his eyes and yawned, "I’ll go to sleep then. Xibao was well-behaved and didn’t cry or fuss. I boiled some hot water. The kettle is already filled, and there is plenty in the pot for washing up."
"Thank you for your hard work, Tianjun."
Upon hearing Feng Qingxue’s words, Lu Tianjun chuckled, "No trouble at all. After all, Xibao is my little brother."
Lu Jiang escorted him back to the east wing and then fetched hot water.
Feng Qingxue quickly washed up, just brushing her teeth and washing her face, then applying a layer of skincare product.
Lu Jiang brought the basin of warm water to the bed, "Sweetheart, I know you’ve had a rough time while I was away. Now that I’m back, let me wash your feet for you, I’ll do so for the rest of our lives until I’m bedridden."
Feng Qingxue had just tucked Xibao in and, hearing this, she tapped him on the shoulder, "Stop saying such grim things!"
As she spoke, she spat several times to void the bad omens.
Lu Jiang was a soldier, and a soldier’s life had no guarantees on the battlefield. Every time Lu Jiang went to the battlefield, she was on tenterhooks. She couldn’t stand his ill-omened words - she was most scared of hearing Lu Jiang speak about being unable to move in the future.
"Alright, alright, I’ll be careful next time! Boss, I’ll definitely pay attention next time!" Lu Jiang said whilst helping her take off her shoes and socks, slipping her delicate white feet into the comfortably warm water. His rough hand couldn’t help but rub and pinch her feet, "Sweetheart, you have beautiful feet, as elegant as white jade." And they were smooth and tender to the touch.
If her feet were , he could only imagine the rest of her body.
Heat swelled in Lu Jiang’s chest and he swiftly finished washing Feng Qingxue’s feet. He hastily washed himself with the leftover water and then threw it out at the corner of the wall. When he got back in, he found his wife already nestled in Xibao’s quilt, pretending to snore.
He knew his wife was pretending to sleep.
Her sleeping posture was always perfect; she never snored.
"Qingxue, wake up, wake up, wake up, you haven’t satisfied my request!" Lu Jiang couldn’t wake her with a nudge, and seeing her eyes squeezed tightly shut, he lifted her from Xibao’s quilt and tucked her into his own.
Feng Qingxue was startled and her eyes flew open.
