"Mummy!" Xibao extended her arms towards her with a woeful look, "It’s bad!"
"Tell mummy what happened, did daddy hit you?" Feng Qingxue felt horrible, quickly taking Xibao into her arms. The two sat on the kang, with Xibao nestled close, sniffling heavily.
"Hmm!" Xibao pouted, reaching back to touch her buttocks, "I got a spanking!"
"What exactly happened?" Feng Qingxue asked Lu Jiang again.
While opening a cabinet, Lu Jiang replied, "She scratched someone’s face." Given the people constantly moving about in the family courtyard, food left outside was too eye-catching. So, he had thoughtfully got a cabinet. On opening it, he found an unopened can of malt essence.
"Who?" Feng Qingxue asked, frowning.
Although Xibao was very mischievous, she had never actually hit anyone. On the rare occasion, she would only hit Lu Jiang and then run away. Their home was filled with many things, anything others had, they had it too. Even items others didn’t have or couldn’t afford, they had. While Xibao might be possessive about food, there was no need for her to start fights over it.
Lu Jiang sighed, "Lieutenant General Qi’s darling!"

Lieutenant General Qi Gang was fifty-three years old and had only one son, Qi Xiang, who was five years old.
Feng Qingxue didn’t particularly like Qi Gang, had no interaction with his wife Chen Ju, and even less with their son.

The third reason was regarding their child. Qi Gang had a child in his middle age and over-indulged him. This lead to their son, Qi Xiang, having a lawless attitude. He loved to snatch things from others, and wouldn’t hesitate before hitting someone. Many children had their faces scratched by him. Yet, Qi Gang and Chen Ju always defended him, using his age as an excuse to avoid responsibility.
Because of this, many people didn’t want Chen Ju to be a teacher, fearing she’d provide a bad influence on their children.
Running through the information regarding Qi Gang’s family in her mind, Feng Qingxue asked Xibao, "Xibao, tell mummy, why did you hit him? There must be a reason for hitting someone, right? Apart from you, did you see Xibao hitting anyone else?"
The last part was addressed to Lu Jiang. A slight chill flickered in his eyes as he replied, "It’s not Xibao’s fault. Qi Xiang tried to grab Xibao’s stuff. When Xibao refused, he pushed her. Xibao responded by scratching him. Don’t worry, the spanking that Xibao got today, I’ll make sure I get back at him for it someday!"
"You’re saying the spanking that Xibao mentioned wasn’t given by you?"
On seeing Lu Jiang nod, Feng Qingxue immediately flared up, "Who was it then? Was it Lieutenant General Qi or Chen Ju?"
