The original owner’s bone structure was excellent. Her forehead was full, her nose charmingly straight, her eyebrows curved, and her lips small. Even though her face had become gaunt, her cheekbones protruding, and her eyes appeared even larger due to this, it was still somewhat pleasant to look at.
Her facial skin was dark and coarse, but the pores were very fine, and the skin under her clothes was very white.
Though her teeth were covered in tartar, they were neatly arranged.
Feng Qingxue was very satisfied. She put away her mirror, finished the remaining half bowl of porridge from last night, and ate a few dates and a handful of nuts.
Dates help replenish blood, and nuts provide nutrition.
The porridge had been kept in her space and was still warm.
After finishing her meal, Feng Qingxue put the date pits and nutshells into her space, washed the pottery pot clean, and set it on the stove made of stones.
There would be enough firewood, but alas, there was no fire starter.
In her memory, the original owner always borrowed fire from the neighbors, so Feng Qingxue sighed, took out a lighter, and lit the fire.
The pottery pot was not an easy cooking vessel to heat. The firewood didn’t last long. It took quite a while to boil a pot of water.
While the water was boiling, Feng Qingxue took a warm egg from her space.
Right after boiling it to satisfaction, she had placed it in the space. When she took it out, it was still warm.
It took Feng Qingxue a while to find a broken wooden basin. She woke up Feng Qingyun and poured some hot water for her to wash her face and hands in.
By the time the basin was found, the hot water had cooled.
Although very poor, the original Feng Qingxue had always been very clean.
Under her sister’s influence, Feng Qingyun too, would carefully wash her face and hands as a matter of routine.
“Alright, now that you’ve washed your face, it’s time to eat something.” Feng Qingxue handed her the warm egg, “We get one egg a day to eat, after you’ve finished this one, your sister will find a way to get more.”
Accompanied by the warm water in the porcelain bowl, Feng Qingyun savored the egg bite by bite. She was elated.

Feng Qingxue patted her head, “Tomorrow, your sister will boil another egg for you to eat.”
Feng Qingyun nodded and then asked, “Sister, have you eaten yet?”
“I ate when you were still sleeping.” Feng Qingxue answered calmly, destroying any trace of the eggshell.
Although Feng Qingyun was smart, she was still young and thus, believed Feng Qingxue’s words.
Of course, Feng Qingxue had indeed eaten.
By now, daylight had fully arrived.
Feng Qingxue looked at the sky, lowered her head, and said to Feng Qingyun, “Qingyun, wait for me at home. I’ll go out to beg for food.”
“Sister, take me with you. The kind-hearted people might give more to eat if they see your pitiful sister with you.” Feng Qingyun, clutching her sister’s clothes and not wanting to leave her, smartly suggested a good method.
“No.” Feng Qingxue firmly declined.
What a joke! If she brought her along, how could she take anything from her space?
Seeing Feng Qingyun’s disappointment, Feng Qingxue quickly explained, “Silly little sister, you don’t have any trousers to wear. Your legs are bare, your feet are bare, how can I bear to let you trudge through mountains and rivers with me? Wait for me at home, I will definitely bring back food.”
After hearing these words, Feng Qingyun drew her legs and feet back into the ragged cotton-padded jacket.
The worn cotton-padded jacket had originally been worn by their father before his death. Since he had died in the summer, he wasn’t buried wearing it.
Otherwise, Feng Qingyun would not even have such a coat to wear.
Of course, even if he had died in winter, this cotton-padded coat would not have been buried with him.
The family was too poor. The clothes worn by the dead were kept as they were the best ones.
