Someone muttered quietly, “I’m jealous of whoever gets to spend more time with you.”
“What did you say?” Nan Fei didn’t hear clearly.
“I said don’t take my mother’s and sister’s words seriously, they don’t have the final say!” Mentioning this, a shadow flashed across Huo Beijiang’s eyes. “Okay, quit fussing, let’s eat first!”
“…” When was she ever making a fuss? It’s always him who was fussing, wasn’t it? Today, Nan Fei truly learned what shamelessness really means.
“Boss, make me another bowl of fried rice.”
After breakfast, they left the diner. It was almost nine o’clock. With his long legs, Huo Beijiang was walking in front, while Nan Fei was trailing behind him trying to catch up. Seeing that she couldn’t catch up, she tried to be crafty.
She wanted to escape when he wasn’t looking, but before she even got a chance to turn around, he had already turned his head back toward her.
His eyebrows were raised in a teasing smile, his gaze fixed on her.
“Sweetheart, where are you going?”
Despite having corrected him numerous times, Nan Fei didn’t have the energy to continue doing so. It seemed as though her words were falling on deaf ears.
“I have things to do, you go along with your business! You don’t have to follow me.”
“I’ve got nothing to do!” He held up a bag in his hand, weighed it, and gestured with it, “Let’s go check out where you live first.”
“I don’t want to go.” Nan Fei stood her ground in the town square, refusing to move.
“Behave, darling! Stop making a fuss.” Huo Beijiang walked back, only speaking once he reached her, “When we’re in the countryside, I obey you, but in the city, you must obey me.”
“Because you sneakily came to the city and didn’t even dare to tell me.” His anger had been simmering during their meal. If he hadn’t been afraid of scaring her, he would’ve blown up long ago.
Such audacity! She actually dared to sneak off to the city without telling anyone and work on her own.
Thinking about this, Huo Beijiang took out a bulging wallet from his pocket and forcefully stuffed it into Nan Fei’s hand, leaving her bewildered.
“What are you doing?”
“This is my salary, from now on, I’ll give it to you every month.”

She dismissed it disdainfully, refused to take it, threw it on the ground when she couldn’t refuse, and they parted in anger.

“No!” Nan Fei felt the wallet in her hands heating up, she asked guiltily, “If you give the money to me, won’t you have to give it to your mom?”
