A beast resided in his eyes.
Nan Fei was terrified by Huo Beijiang. Her slender body was cloaked in his shadow and her little face as pale as death. Despite her fear, she stubbornly stared directly into his eyes.
The two of them were too close. She could sense Huo Beijiang’s rapid heartbeat. Thump, thump, it was driving her heart awry, even without realizing it.
“I’m very angry, irritated.” Huo Beijiang gritted his teeth, trying hard to curb the hostility emanating from him. However, the mere thought of his little wife sleeping in another man’s bed would reignite his rage.
He just wished to destroy everything.
Yet, despite his anger, he was unable to harm her. Watching her so close, all he wanted was to pull her into his arms and passionately kiss her.
“I…I didn’t know beforehand.” She stammered, trying to explain.
If it were her from her previous life, she wouldn’t have bothered to explain. The deeper Huo Beijiang misunderstood, the better. But now, she genuinely wanted to make things right with him. She didn’t want him to misunderstand her anymore.
The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved Nan Fei felt. Her big watery eyes reddened swiftly as tears welled up in them.
“Why are you crying?” Huo Beijiang ordered coldly, “Stop crying.”
“Who says I’m crying?” Nan Fei’s eyes were blurred with tears, but she refused to admit it.
“I haven’t even scolded you yet, and you’re already crying. Are you not ashamed?” He spoke sternly, but he didn’t dare to look at her. He knew his limits; a further glance would leave him stripped of his defenses.
“I’m always a disgrace, what does it matter to you?”
“You are my wife, if you’re disgraced, it is also a disgrace to me, Huo Beijiang!” After saying it, he cursed under his breath, wondering how the conversation had turned into this.
“You… what are you doing? Let me go.”
“I want to kiss you.” He stared straight at her with an intensity that made Nan Fei feel as though she was ablaze.
“You…” Just as Nan Fei was about to speak, he shut her up with a kiss.
“Behave! Let it flow.” Huo Beijiang gently nibbled on her lips, then reluctantly backed away a bit. There was a mischievous smile in his brows and eyes. Seeing her stunned, his smile reached the depth of his eyes.
“Wife, do you still want to cry?” Huo Beijiang’s voice was husky and sexy. His gaze even with Nan Fei’s, his eyes filled with unabashed pampering. Seeing his little wife still recovering from the shock made him smirk maliciously. He leaned over and whispered something into her ear.
Nan Fei’s eyes widened, her already flushed cheeks turned a deeper shade of red, as though she could faint anytime.
How… how could he say such things…
How had she not noticed before…
She couldn’t believe the solemn and aloof Huo Beijiang actually had such a side to him. How many truths had she missed in her past life?
“Wife, what did I just say?”
Nan Fei’s face reddened even more. “Put me down, immediately.”
“No, not until you repeat what I just said.”
Nan Fei was shocked by his audacity. How could she possibly repeat such indecent words?
“Wife, if you don’t say it, I’ll kiss you again.” No one knew about the internal turmoil Huo Beijiang was facing except him. Having such an enchanting woman in his arms, yet unable to indulge, was more torturous than any punishment.
He feared he wouldn’t live long if this went on.
The worst part was, the tormentor had no idea herself.
“Huo Beijiang!” Nan Fei, angry, raised her voice a few notches. “If you don’t put me down right now, forget about us ever getting married in this lifetime.”
“Don’t say that, wife.” Huo Beijiang reluctantly let her go.
“Humph!” Nan Fei pushed him away, quickly opened the door and rushed out. At this moment, she was too embarrassed to see anyone and headed straight into the ladies’ bathroom to splash cold water on her face.
In the room, Huo Beijiang lay on the narrow single bed, his tall, slender body seeming out of place. The laughter from earlier had long disappeared from his eyes. With a sharp and critical gaze, he scrutinized every inch of the room, as if he wanted to peel back the flooring.
He was furious, but no matter how angry he was, he would never take it out on Nan Fei. Only a useless man would blame their wife and hold her responsible for their own mistakes.
Downstairs, Chen Cuihua thought for a long time, her face revealing an incredulous expression.
Her exaggerated reaction startled the accountant.
“What’s the matter, boss? You look so flustered.”
“Did you see… did you see the man who walked in with Nan Fei earlier?”
