Back To The 90s: The Resilient Daughter-In-Law Chapter 357

Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Suspected Object_1 Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Suspected Object_1 Upon hearing that Sun Lu had gone missing, Jiang Nan Fei’s heart lurched, and a bad premonition immediately raced up her spine, making her feel as though she had plunged into an ice cave.

“Missing for a week now? Why… did they wait until now to look for her?” Nan Fei had a deep impression of Sun Lu–a girl who was dedicated and kind-hearted. Even when treated unfairly, she chose to endure it silently, which made people want to sympathize with her.

“Ah! You do not understand her family’s situation, their preference for boys over girls, deeply stuck in traditional feudal thoughts. There’s just too much to say,” Ying Jiuming did not want to mention the heartbreaking situation that he saw.

While they were talking, a policeman hurriedly reported, “Captain, Jiang Minmin is not at home.”

“Where else could she be?” Ying Jiuming was in a bad mood and said sharply, “Go and find her. Search door-to-door, I refuse to believe she can’t be found.”

“Yes sir!” The policeman replied, then asked, “What about Jiang Nan Fei?”

Ying Jiuming pointed a finger, “No need, she’s right here.”

Hearing this, the policeman turned around with a good-natured smile, then hurried off to summon others.

Nan Fei was somewhat confused hearing that they were looking for Jiang Minmin. “Officer Ying, what on earth is going on? I’m a bit lost.”

“According to the clues we obtained from our investigation, Sun Lu came to Xiao Wang Village to either see you or Jiang Minmin. Have you seen her? Don’t be afraid, tell us everything that you know.”

At this time, a middle-aged female police officer with a notebook and pen in hand came to Ying Jiuming’s side, obviously ready for the investigation.

Nan Fei shook her head, “No, I haven’t! I’ve been busy with studies lately and haven’t seen Sun Lu.”

The female officer looked at her with profound eyes. Despite her young age, the girl before her was surprisingly calm. This trait piqued her curiosity and interest.

“Jiuming, may I talk to this student?”

Without any expression on his face, Ying Jiuming stepped aside politely, “Please, go ahead.”

“Thank you!” After the female officer finished speaking, she looked at Nan Fei, “Are you willing to tell me who you have seen these past few days?”

“Of course.” No one would be happy to be questioned as a criminal. Nan Fei’s clear, bright eyes sharpened, “But Officer, shouldn’t your first priority be to find Sun Lu?”

Off to the side, Ying Jiuming frowned, obviously disapproving.

“After being missing for over a week, she could have met with misfortune,” the female officer analyzed calmly.

“But what if she ran away from home? We shouldn’t give up so quickly, and we should avoid jumping to conclusions too soon.”

In Qi Li Town, the folks were simple and honest. The female officer’s guess seemed far-fetched to everyone.

Running away from home is something that happens every year. Villagers argue over trivial matters, curse and swear, but very few actually resort to violence.

Let alone take someone’s life.

Sun Lu, a decent girl, disappeared on her visit to Xiao Wang Village. Numerous things could have happened in between. However, the only surmise Jiang Nan Fei could not accept was that she is dead.

The mere thought made her shudder with fear.

“Young lady, we will not rule out the possibility you mentioned, but please trust the experience of a seasoned detective who has worked for decades. Now, please tell me everything you did and everyone you met in these past few days,” the officer moved on.

So she was a detective; no wonder she was different.

Nan Fei didn’t say anything more. She bit her lip, gathered her thoughts, and then began to recount everything from a week ago. Her thoughts were clear, logical, and consistent, no matter how the officer questioned her.

The officer’s last name was Liu, a criminal investigator from the city department who happened to be in town for a lecture and joined the case.

“What’s in your bike basket?”
