“…” Nan Fei was somewhat lost in thought until he leaned over her towering nose, almost touching her forehead to bring her out of her trance. “What…what are you trying to do?” She asked.
She nervously took a step back.
“I want to get a good look at my bride.” His voice wasn’t as cold as before, and his deep-set eyes shone with a dazzling luster, revealing a vaguely visible smile.
Nan Fei could clearly feel his powerful heartbeat, as well as the strong hormonal scent combined with the faint smell of alcohol from him. Merged together, the combined scents were not only not offensive, but they carried a confusingly alluring charm.
She felt guilty, retreating repeatedly to establish a safe distance from him. Regretting silently, if she knew the person in the dark was Huo Beijiang, she would never have said what she had.
She just wished she could burrow into a hole somewhere—she was thoroughly disgraced!
“Brother…” Huo Jinlan was almost driven to madness by the scene playing out before her eyes, her voice straining with heart-wrenching pain.

Her brother had always called her Jinlan, but now he actually referred to her as “sister”. Was he warning her? Had he found out something already? But she had always been careful not to show anything…
“Did you come to see me because you have something to tell me?” Huo Beijiang asked softly, looking directly into Nan Fei’s eyes.
“I… I have nothing to say.” She couldn’t explain herself in such a situation. Nan Fei deeply regretted coming, she shouldn’t have. She was definitely crazy, being too naive to just come because her grandmother requested it.
She could have just gone for a walk in the fields, enjoying the evening breeze before returning home. If her grandmother asked, she could just say she had been there already.
Huo Beijiang caught a glimpse of her regret, her withdrawal, her rejection, and her fear. His eyebrows knitted together; what on earth was wrong with this girl?

“Are you staying over at my house tonight?”

“Oh!” replied Huo Beijiang, “Then I’ll take you home! It’s almost dark.”
“Brother, let me accompany you!” Huo Jinlan offered, with a flattering smile.
“No need. Don’t you have to prepare for your class reunion tomorrow? You better prepare properly!” With that, he reached out and took Nan Fei by the wrist, leading her away.
Huo Jinlan watched, standing in shock as they walked away, feeling a surge of rage that made her almost dizzy. She couldn’t take it anymore, she absolutely must not… let Jiang Nanfei marry her brother.
Otherwise, she would be better off dead.
Jiang Nanfei felt like she was reliving the events of last night. The only difference was that Huo Beijiang had been drinking. When inebriated, he acted differently from the way she remembered him.
Huo Beijiang walked ahead, feeling warm, he unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, revealing a small patch of his healthy, glowing skin. His beautiful musculature seemed to attract and hold her gaze.
He slowed his steps to walk beside her, the slightest hint of a smile playing on his lips. This silly girl kept staring at him without so much as blinking an eye. Doesn’t she know she’s playing with fire?
