She now found Huo Beijiang more agreeable. He only sneaked in to see Nan Fei without making a fuss, unlike Chen Cuihua who appeared to be outright snatching.
With Huo Beijiang gone and her inner turmoil unresolved, Nan Fei was feeling rather down. But Chen Cuihua’s antics managed to lift her spirits.
Nan Fei was aware that Mom wasn’t genuinely angry, so she didn’t remind Chen Cuihua and asked leisurely, “So, Sister Chen, what did you want to talk about?”
Chen Cuihua cautiously glanced at the door and made sure it was closed before saying, “The matter you asked me to investigate has been resolved.” Her husband had initially forbidden her from interfering, but she thought this was the first time Nan Fei had sought her help and she couldn’t just drop it midway.
This would strip her of face as an elder sister. So, without Gongxi Heng knowing, she continued the investigation.
“Really? That’s fantastic!” Nan Fei said, surprised and delighted, “Sister Chen, you have no idea, being stuck in bed here, unable to go anywhere, has been killing me.”
“I knew it!” Chen Cuihua crowed with a swagger, putting on an I-know-you-better-than-anyone-in-the-world face.
