His guest room, bedroom, study, and other such spaces all lacked steps or raised thresholds. Though he had a live-in secretary nearby to help, he often chose to handle things himself.
In the living room, Wei Qin instructed Jiang Yang to sit on the sofa. With the help of his secretary Little Wang, they fetched the medicine box and he personally treated Jiang Yang’s wound.
“Cold!” Jiang Yang exclaimed, surprised that the medicine was cool to the touch.
“It’s specially made. Very effective,” Wei Qin explained.
Wei Qin carefully applied a pale green, transparent salve to Jiang Yang’s ear, gently blowing on it afterward.
“All done! Is it not painful anymore?”
Jiang Yang took a moment to consider before nodding happily.
“Good!” Wei Qin replied.
“Big brother!” Jiang Yang, tilting his head, studied Wei Qin and his high nose, thin lips, and pale skin. The more he looked, the more familiar Wei Qin seemed to him.
Taken aback by being scrutinized by such a young child, an embarrassed Wei Qin flushed slightly, asking, “What are you looking at?”

Wei Qin couldn’t help but smile at this, asking, “Did you sneak out?”

Wei Qin knew from the moment he laid eyes on Jiang Yang that the boy must have snuck out. Given Jiang Nanfei’s caution the day before, it was unlikely she would have let her younger brother wander off to his house alone.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you back,” Wei Qin decided.
Secretary Little Wang hurried to help, following the two out of the door and all the way to the Dai family residence.

Upstairs in a bedroom of the second floor, Huo Beijiang was bare-chested, revealing his stunning muscular physique. His hair was still dripping wet from taking a shower. Outside of him, a military doctor dressed in a white coat and an olive-green dress shirt was in the process of extracting a bullet from his right shoulder.
Huo Kewei was attempting to wipe Huo Beijiang’s body dry with a towel.
While rubbing him dry, he muttered under his breath, “I wish I could have a body like Uncle’s!”
With sweat dripping down his forehead, Huo Beijiang snorted disdainfully at Huo Kewei’s words, retorting, “Maybe in your next life.”
Fu Xinwu chimed in from the side, “Who are you? And who is your uncle? You can’t compare.”
“Enough, all of you,” Huo Linong interjected, worried about his son’s injuries while this bunch chatted idly. “Let the doctor concentrate.”
Their group had been ambushed as they were leaving the cemetery the previous night. If it weren’t for him slowing them down, Beijiang wouldn’t have gotten injured taking a bullet for him.
Huo Linong hadn’t slept all night, and the whole situation had had a significant effect on him.
