Knowing that big brother had heard him, Lu Jin quickly slipped out.
Huo Beijiang cursed Xi Liqun in his heart, before reluctantly letting go of Nan Fei, taking off his vest right in front of her, revealing his sturdy upper body.
Nan Fei was shocked, her eyes widened and stared for nearly a minute until she saw him turn his back to her to grab his uniform from the rack. Then she realized her gaze was inappropriate and guiltily turned her eyes away.
Almost immediately when she looked away, Huo Beijiang noticed it, the corner of his mouth ticking up amusedly. He teased, “My wife is blushing again. I’m a man being spied on and I’m not shy, what are you shy for?”
“You actually know you’re a grown man?”
“Of course I know, guaranteed authentic, you’re welcome to inspect the goods.”
“But you specifically kind of pervert! You especially do.”
‘This guy is beyond redemption,’ Nan Fei thought.
Huo Beijiang buttoned up his uniform swiftly then turned to Nan Fei to salute, giving a standard military salute.
“Comrade Jiang, I’ll need to attend a military meeting first. You can follow Lu Jin to my dormitory.”
“Yes, sir!” Nan Fei stood at attention in response.
“At ease.” Huo Beijiang took the dormitory key from the drawer and gave it to Nan Fei, correcting her as he did: “Your movements are not up to standard, and your military etiquette is poor. As you haven’t officially started school yet, I will let it slide this time! But if you fail again next time, you’ll see what happens.”
“Sir, I am already quite attractive.”
Someone couldn’t bear it any longer, and his serious expression broke down into a smile.
“Get out! If you were my soldier, I’d drill you until you cried for your father and mother.” He was at the door, his words trailing off when he suddenly turned back, winking ambiguously at Nan Fei and speaking in a husky voice, “But since you’re my wife, I’d only make you cry out for Daddy in bed.”
So Nan Fei hurled the enamel tea bowl from the table at him.
Huo Beijiang’s reaction was quick; he turned and sidestepped, the tea bowl missing him by a fraction before he walked out the door.
Nan Fei was both amused and angry; she shook her head helplessly after a long while. Faced with this outwardly frivolous, but deeply serious man, she felt she was destined to be outmatched by him.
“Sister-in-law!” Ning Di appeared at some point, “I’ll take you to the commander’s dorm.”
The Division’s headquarters was enormous, with many departments. She wouldn’t be able to find the family quarters alone on her first visit.
“Okay! Thanks for the trouble.”
The two walked towards the family quarters. Although it was night, lights flooded the Division’s headquarters in preparation for an upcoming war exercise in half a month. All the front-line troops were participating in night drills.
