Huo Linong shivered, frightened to the point of forgetting to cry. He then seriously looked at his son and noticed that his son looked very different from yesterday.
Yesterday, Huo Bei Jiang had almost lost his reason; the bloodshot in his eyes was terrifying, and the confrontation on the playground escalated due to his last-minute arrival.
Huo Linong shook his head, attempting to clear it from his mind.
That night when he revealed the truth of Bei Jiang’s birthright, yet his son still sought to kill Leng Peixi.
That was his birth mother–he had explained it so clearly, yet his son still proceeded, Had it not been for his desperate interference, Leng Peixi might well have died at Bei Jiang’s hands. He knew Bei Jiang must be furious and hate him, but there was nothing he could do.
He could not bear to watch Bei Jiang kill his own mother, committing an unforgivable sin. If he had indeed done so, not only his own future would be utterly destroyed, but his descendants would also bear the burden of disgrace.
At the time, Huo Linong was solely focused on preventing his son from making a mistake, but upon calming down, he realized that the confrontation the night before must have been painful for Bei Jiang regardless.

“Did I scare you?” Huo Bei Jiang pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, his gaze scanning over the ‘No Smoking, No Loud Talking’ sign on the wall. Then he calmly lit the cigarette and elegantly began to puff smoke.
Huo Linong stared at the sign as well, and their gazes intertwined in mid-air before he guiltily looked away.
“Cough, cough…” Years of being a teacher made Huo Linong involuntarily speak up, “Cough, cough, cough… smoking is prohibited in the hospital.”
