Chapter 15: Chapter 15 "Taking Over Xuan’s Body"
Xuan followed Zhao Zen Wu who took him to his own personal chamber, while Xuan asked, "May I know the reason why only I can meet him and not others? Also, who is he?"
This was a question that had been on his mind ever since Zhao Zen Wu mentioned someone who could help.
Zhao Zen Wu answered, "The reason why others can’t meet him is something you’ll know once you meet him, as I’m not in a position to answer this. As for his identity..."
He paused, then asked, "Do you know the history of our Cloud-Severing City?"
Xuan thought for a moment, recalling Ru Feng’s story of the Cloud-Severing City. "Is it about the attack on the city by demonic practitioners and then the Cloud-Severing Sovereign saving the city?"
"That’s all I know about this city, including the fact that the Cloud-Severing Sovereign succumbed to his injuries and died," Xuan told him as he followed him closely.
Zhao Zen Wu smiled as he took Xuan to the inner room which resembled a library and took out his jade scorpion token and placed it in the empty space.
"You heard it right but there is a little mistake in that story." Zhao Zen Wu spoke as Xuan saw the hidden space open in front of his eyes.
"The Cloud-Severing Sovereign didn’t die that day." This was a shocking revelation for Xuan. Suddenly he joined the two statements, "Don’t tell me?"
Zhao Zen Wu entered the secret room, "Yes, that’s what I mean, now you have the answer to both of your questions." He invited Xuan who followed inside.
As he stepped inside, the way he came from closed and the dimly room lit up.
Xuan’s eyes fell upon the skeletal figure.
The old man’s skin was so thin that his bones were clearly visible. A suffocating aura surrounded him, which intensified and swept towards Xuan the moment the old man’s eyes opened.
"Master."
"You have come! Hmmm... so you did bring him here." The Cloud-Severing Ancestor looked at Xuan.
Xuan felt the old man’s eyes on him, and an unseeable aura swept over him. Before he could say something, the old man smiled, "Not bad-Not bad, this one is the best you have come with."
Xuan heard this and the words felt like a puzzle to him. He looked at the kneeling Zhao Zen Wu who answered, "Yes master."
Zhao Zen Wu hoped this would all end soon, praying that the Cloud-Severing Sovereign would succeed this time.
He feared becoming the old man’s next vessel, a fate his own father had accepted, only for the old man’s attempt to take over his body to fail.
Xuan finally accustomed to the suppression on him, he asked, "What’s the meaning of this, city lord?" his voice straight and clear.
However, Zhao Zen Wu didn’t answer him, he kept his head low. Xuan couldn’t tell if this was guilt or shamelessness.
Instead he was faced with the eerie laugh of the Cloud-Severing Sovereign, "he won’t tell you. Why don’t you ask me instead."
"HEHEHEHE"
Xuan felt that the pressure on him has increased. He gritted his teeth as his legs began bending with the old man using his cultivation of the first stage of Sky Sovereign to suppress Xuan.
He was toying with Xuan as if a beast was toying with its prey before devouring it.
Xuan felt he was losing control over his body; his legs were already half bent.
As he was trying to resist the pressure of the Sky Sovereign realm with his peak level of Qi Awakening realm, he saw blood begin to leak from his mouth and nose.
His consciousness also began to fade as the Cloud-Severing Sovereign continued.
"You are very tenacious huh, well a dragon kid indeed, why don’t you show me your real avatar."
The Cloud-Severing Ancestor asked Xuan to transform into his dragon avatar but he met with disappointment as Xuan didn’t transform.
He was surprised to see Xuan resisting till now. If there was any other person instead of Xuan then that person would have died a few minutes ago but here was Xuan who was still able to stop himself from kneeling.
There was something inside him which wasn’t awakened but even in its dormant form, it was helping Xuan to resist such a heavy pressure from an old monster.
On the other hand, Zhao Zen Wu and the Cloud-Severing Sovereign thought that due to Xuan’s lineage as a dragon and not some ordinary but a royal dragon was the reason why Xuan can resist the suppression for so long.
"I can feel, it’s the time." The eerie voice of the Cloud-Severing Ancestor hummed inside the room.
His old rotted body began to crumble with a very slow rate as like a tiny wisp, his soul travelled from his body and entered Xuan’s consciousness.
Suddenly the pressure on Xuan vanished but he was already in a trance since the foreign soul entered his body.
"HAHAHA, today I’ll be reborn." The Cloud-Severing Ancestor spoke as his soul finally entered Xuan’s consciousness.
"Where are you hiding boy, come here and let me erase you from existenc..." before he could complete his sentence, he was cut off in the middle as his eyes landed on numerous stone statues, especially the one with a glow, the dragon statue.
"What in the heaven is this place? How can such things exist in his consciousness?" He was shocked to his core that Cloud Severing Sovereign forgot that if he didn’t took over Xuan’s body soon then his soul will vanish forever.
Just when he realised it, he began looking for Xuan’s soul but it was nowhere to be seen, except the statues of numerous beasts.
The only statue which looked different from the others was the dragon statue which had a light glow on it while others were looking just like simple statues.
This made him confused, "What is this place! I have a bad feeling; I can’t stay any longer if there is no soul in his body but how is this possible."
"No-I have to leave.."
