Alex walked on the pavement like a zombie, he couldn’t register his surroundings at all then suddenly he felt a piercing pain in his abdomen.
He looked down only to find a knife sticking out of him, he couldn’t understand why he got stabbed. There were no questions, no screaming, if it was a robbery he would’ve complied, there was no reason for this.
He raised his head to look at his assualter and the guy was looking at him with a crazed smile. It dawned on him, this was no robbery, this was a murder.
He sighed. ’Maybe this is better, without me holding her back maybe she’ll find someone better’. As life drained from his body he remembered his entire life.
Growing up in a foster home with foster parents who only saw him as a meal ticket, graduating top of his class only to work in an exploitive corporation where his superior took the credit for all of his work.
Due to his antisocial personality he was always treated as a weirdo by others so he never had any friends, because of his timid nature he watched people who didn’t deserve it get promoted at work and didn’t speak up.

And the last memory he has of her is them arguing. He hated himself for that, he should’ve told her how special she was and how lucky he was to have her but that was no longer possible.
Just before his eyes closed he saw an explosion of light in the sky so bright it turned the night into day for a second but he correlated it to his dying illusions,lot of people saw strange things when they died.
Then his eyes closed and he felt death claim him. Alex opened his eyes and blinked, his vision was strange, he didn’t know if to call it better but it was disorienting.
He could see in a 360 degrees angle and everything was crystal clear in a 20 metres radius but beyond that, it was as if the world was covered in fog. ’This is very confusing, what happened because I’m sure I died?’
He tried to scratch his head but took a step forward instead. His lack of coordination caught him off guard. He looked at his hand, brown scaled hand ending in three fingers.
’This is not my hand, this is a lizards hand.’ He tried to move his hand again but the lizard hand moved instead. He was not an idiot, obviously this was his hand.
He looked closely at his body and realised it wasn’t just his hand,he had turned into a small brown lizard. Now that explains the tall grass. He was strangely calm about this.

Before he could respond to the creepy voice he heard movements in the grass. His cowardice nature took over, his 10 cm long body ran away with his little feet.
After running for a while he found a hole and crawled inside. If he was thinking straight he might’ve realised how terrible an idea that is but fortunately for him the hole was empty.
He sat deep in the hole in fear, half expecting something to crawl in but none ever did. Nightfall came and his stomach grumbled. He didn’t even know a lizards stomach could grumble.
He tried to ignore it but as time passed the hunger got worse. He knew if this continued he won’t even have the energy to find food later so he hesitantly crawled out of the hole.
He skittered through the grass with his little feet but would run whenever he heard movements. Eventually he saw a caterpillar inching on the grass.
’Easy meal,’ he thought. He approached it slowly like how he remembered wild cats did when hunting. He jumped and knocked it off the grass with his foot.
Then pressed it down, it squashy body squirming below his foot, he looked at it and felt disgusted by the thought of eating it slimy body raw.
But with no other choice he bit a tiny part of it. His lizard eyes opened wide with surprise, it was delicious, almost at the level of roasted vegetables.

It was more different than he expected, there were so stats or anything and he only has 1 ability, plus, he’s a common lizard, a common lizard? Really? Not a juvenile dragon or anything cool like that?
Anyways, it seems he can evolve as long as he had enough evolutionary points. He went back to his meal and when he was done he had 0.2 evolutionary points.
The caterpillar only gave him 0.2 points, that was low, it seems being a dragon and soaring the sky, breathing fire and fighting against overconfident knight was still pretty far, not to mention the pretty ladies.
This place was teeming with caterpillars so he hunted a few more before going back to his little hole with one of them. He stared at the squirming caterpillar before him.
He was full but he wanted to see if he would gain any evolutionary points if he ate while being full so he opened his mouth filled with tiny razor sharp teeth and bit the poor thing to death.
