The arrival of Blanwen provided a much-needed ally for Lai, who was already struggling to hold his ground.
Esie stood by, observing them battle two enraged Beastmen.
Just as they were about to win, Esie had another ingenious idea.
He injected the last vial of potion into Lai.
"I’ll turn you into one of my kind!" Esie’s eyes flickered with a manic madness, his pupils trembling, seemingly on the verge of exploding from excitement.
Even Esie admitted to himself that he was a madman, an irrational madman.
Blanwen struggled to take down the last Beastman, his face extremely grim...
He feared that Lai would turn into something akin to those two Beastmen; he was already exhausted, and if Lai lost control, Blanwen would surely die at his hands.
Lai was somewhat out of control, but not entirely mindless; his bloodthirsty desire was peaking, wanting to tear everything apart.
He looked at Blanwen, kneeling cautiously on the ground, heavily injured. The blood on Blanwen’s body constantly provoked him.
Lai didn’t direct his wrath at Blanwen, but instead turned and aimed his fists at Esie!

Although Lai hadn’t lost his reason, the potion had indeed affected him significantly.

Guan Heng sent signals for people to come and carry away the corpses and clean up the scene.
Blanwen’s people had recovered and, seeing the heavily injured Blanwen, quickly moved him from Puslin’s back, "We’ll take it from here!"
They all left together and boarded the vehicle.
Lai sat on one side, the gloom in his eyes not yet dissipated.
"I’m not going home, take me to my lab," Lai instructed Puslin, who was driving.
Puslin ignored him and drove directly toward home.
"Puslin!" Lai glared at him, "I’m in no condition to see my wife! Drop me off, now!"
Puslin glanced at Lai through the rearview mirror, "True, you look as thin as a twig, you might scare Manman."
Since Lai went missing these past months, he had become much thinner, his cheeks slightly sunken in.
Puslin thought that after the downfall of the Burles family, one reason Lai hadn’t returned home might have been to recuperate; when he first escaped from it, he was likely even thinner.
Tsk, always taking matters into his own hands. As wife’s Beast Husbands, they are a family, united outwardly. Can’t they discuss things together? Must they recklessly take risks, disregarding their lives?

"But forget about it, today I must take you back home."
