Gu Mengmeng felt no comfort from the Beast Deity’s words at all.
Strictly speaking, three people have died by her hand in the Beast World.
The first was Nina. She had given the command the kill her and she did not regret it.
The second was Snakel. She didn’t kill him but he had died for her. Thereafter, she had inherited over a thousand years worth of memories, which tormented her to the brink of exhaustion.
The third was… who was he?!
He had died by her hand and from the way the Beast Deity put it, it seemed like she had personally done the deed. But she had no recollection of the incident at all. It was the complete opposite of Snakel’s incident.
How could murder be a good deed?!
The Beast Deity patted Gu Mengmeng’s shoulder. “It might be a blessing to have a long life, but it becomes a punishment when one’s lifetime gets dragged on. It was that way for Snakel, and the same for this person. To them, it was a sweet release for you to have ended their lives. If you manage to remember what happened that day, you will realize that I am not lying to you.”
Gu Mengmeng knew that there was no use crying over spilled milk and so just sighed and accepted her fate. “Daddy, what should I do now? Wabei is still very scared of me…”
The Beast Deity squatted down to look Gu Mengmeng in the eye. “It’s very simple. Just give him a drop of your blood and he will not be scared of you anymore.”
Gu Mengmeng stared at the Beast Deity, half-believing and half-doubting. “Just like that?”
The Beast Deity nodded. “Mmm, just like that. Don’t you know? Deities can’t tell lies.”
Gu Mengmeng nodded with a smile. “Alright, Daddy. Then I shall head back first. We have been here for quite some time and I am afraid Lea would be worried.”
Smiling, the Beast Deity kissed Gu Mengmeng on the forehead. “Good girl. Go home now. I will see if there are any good television shows to learn how to torture son-in-laws.”
With that, the Beast Deity turned and smiled at Elvis. “I welcome you to accompany Mengmeng back here next time.”
Thereafter, they experienced a falling sensation. Gu Mengmeng was already used to this feeling but Elvis was obviously very anxious. He hugged Gu Mengmeng tightly the entire trip, as if he was truly afraid that Gu Mengmeng would be blown away by the wind if he made just one false move.
His eyes snapped open to see Gu Mengmeng still in his arms. Only then did Elvis’ heart calm down.
Gu Mengmeng was already used to this sudden switchover and was in no hurry to get up. She opened her eyes and got used to the bright lights before slowly sitting up.
Lea had already prepared a cup of water for Gu Mengmeng. As he watched her drink it, he told Elvis, “Let me carry her, you go drink some water to moisten your throat.”
Elvis’ throat was extremely dry and he didn’t object. He handed Gu Mengmeng over to Lea as he went over to the water tank to gulp down a few large mouthfuls of water.
“Where’s Wabei?” Gu Mengmeng’s first words were to ask after little shit. She wanted to quickly resolve his fear of her.
Lea kissed Gu Mengmeng’s forehead. “He’s hanging on a tree by the house. He doesn’t dare to come in, but is worried about me having to take care of the two of you by myself. So he has been guarding the door the entire time.”
Gu Mengmeng said, “Call him in. I have a way to resolve his fear of me.”
Lea chuckled, before shouting out in panic. “Mengmeng, Mengmeng, what’s happening to you?!”
A black shadow dashed in to stand in front of Gu Mengmeng. The two of them stared at each other for a moment before Wabei heaved a sigh of relief. He tilted his head toward Lea. “Trick me again like this and I will kill you.”
