Kelly’s POV
One of my epic birthday celebrations was this. All because I am with the people I love. My new found friends. My old family and rekindled love. I didn’t dream of something big. I wanted a simple life with the man I love and the family we’ll build together. I don’t even care if we live in a small house. As long as we’re happy, full of love and financially stable to support our family. Fortunately, Pierce gave me everything all at once.
“It’s a tiger!” Snow screamed happily but pouted after we failed to guess what she’s trying to copy. We’ve been playing charades since just finished eating.
“That’s not how a tiger acts!” Phoebe said laughing.
Snow shook her head. “No! I saw a tiger on TV and that’s like that!”
I smirked and shook my head. I felt Pierce playing with my fingers. When I looked at him, he was staring at my fingers while playing with it. His eyes were specifically focused on my ring finger and I know what’s going on in his mind. I bit my bottom lip while watching him.
“Daddy, you’re next!” Snow said and grabbed Pierce’s hand, interrupting us.
Pierce smirked and kissed Snow’s cheek before he made her sit beside me. Snow immediately hugged my waist while Pierce stood in front of us.
He smirked and looked at me, showing a shape of heart.
I laughed. “Love?”
He shook his head, still smirking.
“Heart?” Snow asked innocently.
“No, princess,” Pierce answered and looked at me again. I feel like it’s me who he wanted to answer.
He pointed at himself, created a heart shape with his fingers and then pointed at me.
I laughed hard. Silly!
“I love you?” I asked.
He snapped his fingers and winked at me. “I love you too.”
I bit my bottom lip as I felt something inside me twitched. My heart abruptly skipped a beat as I stared at his handsome face.
“Err! What did I just watch?” Phoebe said with a frowning face. Pierce went back beside me and put Snow on his lap. They gave each other a high five which made me shake my head. They are indeed father and daughter. They get along well.
“That’s so gross!” Emily commented while Yara, Ana and Mary were giggling on the side.
“Me again!” Snow said and jumped off Pierce’s lap.
We stayed for a few seconds before I felt Pierce’s hand grabbing mine and pulling me, stealing my attention.
I looked at him and smiled. “Hmm?”
He pouted and moved his face closer to me. He rested his head on my shoulder and kissed my neck.
“I’m sleepy,” he whispered like a child.
I smirked and glanced at everyone. I saw Emily watching us and when our gazes met, she smirked.
“Let’s go,” I whispered after I made sure that everyone’s busy with the game.
I know they’ll take care of my daughter so I’m not worried.
When we entered Pierce’s bedroom, he immediately lay on the bed and pulled me beside him. He used his arm as my pillow as his other hand rested on my stomach. I faced him and smiled when I saw him staring at me. His eyes were sleepy but he’s still not closing them so he could stare at my face.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
He shook his head. “I love you...”
I caressed his cheek. I’m suddenly worried because I notice he doesn’t look okay. “Is there something wrong? Tell me...”
He pulled me closer, squeezing himself against my chest. “My head hurts.”
I was alarmed. “You need your medicine. You have to take it before you sleep—”
“I already took one. Just stay with me until I fall asleep.”
I hugged him and started tapping my palm gently on his shoulder. He’s extra clingy when his head hurts. He would always hug me like this and hide his face in my neck or chest to avoid the light since it worsens his headache.
“Kels...”
“Hmm?” I hummed. “Sleep now so you’ll get better.”
I felt him sigh. “I’m worried about you and our children.”
“Don’t worry too much. Nothing will happen to us.”
“If the Heavens decide to take one of you from me, I’d trade myself because I’d die if I lose one of you.”
I shook my head as I tried to look at him. “Shh! No! Don’t say that, Pierce.”
“I’d rather die than live without you and our children, Kelly.”
“Then no one will die, Pierce. We won’t lose each other. We won’t lose our babies.”
He pulled me even tighter. “I’m just...scared. Luke died mercilessly, Kelly. You can’t blame me or stop me from overthinking like this.”
“How long have you been thinking about that?” I asked and brushed my fingers against his hair.
“Just...recently. When...Luke died.”
I took a deep sigh and squeezed my eyes closed. “Pierce...”
“It worsened when your cousin disappeared without a trace. If Connor Foster could hurt his son like that, what more if it’s you? I’m scared, Kelly. I’m sorry but I’m scared to lose you. I’d ruin the world if I lose you. I’d lose my mind.”
“You don’t lose me,” I said with a strong hint of assurance. I don’t wanna lose him either so I’ll make sure that he won’t lose me.
I felt him shaking his head. “Let’s just leave, Kelly. Let’s just go somewhere far. With our family.”
“What about your company? My company?”
“I don’t need the damn company when your life is in danger, Kelly. I don’t need anything. I just need you.”
I felt my heart aching. God! How can I convince him that we won’t lose each other or our children? How can I give him the assurance that I will never leave and we will never separate again? By fate nor death.
I squeezed my eyes closed as a deafening silence reigned us. I don’t know what to say anymore so I kept my lips sealed. Even I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. The future is uncertain, but I want to make sure of something. We’ll be safe and together until the end. That’s all I need. That’s all I want.
