Jian Qi did not know how to console people. She had always been alone. As such, she did not know how to console other people and no one had ever consoled her before.
Because of that, she did not know how to lessen Mu Zi’s pain as she saw her feeling utterly devastated.
After all, what was happening to her was a rather cruel thing.
Jian Qi put her hand on Mu Zi’s head and smiled softly. “As the saying goes, when one door closes, a window opens. Although I don’t know why you want to be recruited to the Special Fire Team, there will always be other ways if you want to achieve something. These are your legs. To protect or to ruin them, is a choice you yourself should know how to make.”
“I’m just upset.” Mu Zi said sadly. “It seems as if everything that has happened the past three years has gone down the drain.”
Jian Qi smiled softly. Mu Zi appeared weak and soft. However, Jian Qi knew that Mu Zi was not as weak as she appeared. She had a strong and persistent heart.
She would surely be able to go through this.
Lightning then came into the room with a broom in his hand.
Jian Qi looked up at him and smiled softly. “I have something to do now. Mu Zi, you rest for a while. I’ll leave first.”
Mu Zi nodded and wiped away her tears.
Jian Qi then left.
Lightning cleaned up the broken pieces of glass on the floor. Then, he put them aside. He glanced at Mu Zi and said softly, “You should go back.”
Mu Zi looked at him. Her eyes were swollen and red.
Lightning pursed his lips and averted his gaze. He then took the broom and wanted to leave.
“You know the reason why I chose to come here. Why would you…”
“Don’t you want your legs anymore?” Lightning lowered his voice and said. “Mu Zi, can you not be so stubborn?”
A drop of tear rolled down her cheek as Lightning said those words.
After a short while, Mu Zi wiped away her tears and stared straight at Lightning. “I promise you. I’ll leave!”
Lightning said nothing more. He took the broom and left.
He heard Mu Zi’s voice again when he reached the door. “But, I’ll never give up.”
Lightning froze. He opened his mouth as he wanted to say something. In the end, he remained quiet and left.

Jian Qi walked out of the clinic. She returned to the hostel and took the shirt. Then, she went to Tang Jinyu’s office directly.
Coincidentally, she heard Feng Yi’s voice when she reached the door. “Mu Zi’s legs are badly injured. The doctor said that she should not be allowed to join the training anymore. She must go for treatment. If not, she won’t be able to walk properly in the future.”
“Did Lightning go and see her?” Tang Jinyu asked.
“Yes, he did.”
“Lightning went and see her?” Crocodile said in surprise. “Boss, are you sure?”
Tang Jinyu’s voice was calm with no hesitation whatsoever. “I’m sure all of you know why Mu Zi came here. I knew that she would come here the moment I saw her at the National Defense Academy. By going to see Mu Zi, it was basically giving her a reason to give up.”
“Isn’t it too cruel?” Crocodile murmured.
“Then, letting her stay and allowing her to train until her legs are no longer usable isn’t?” Tang Jinyu looked at him coldly.
Crocodile was speechless.
It was cruel.
It was very cruel!
Hopefully, Lightning would be able to hold it in.
Jian Qi, who was standing by the door, felt that she had heard enough. She lifted her hand and knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Tang Jinyu said coldly.
She pushed open the door. The others were slightly surprised to see her there.
“Big Sister Qi, your recovery speed is quite the bomb!” Crocodile smiled and made a joke. The tension in the room seemed to have been lifted with Jian Qi there.
“Yes?” Tang Jinyu asked.
Jian Qi held out the shirt in her hand and said, “I came to return this shirt. Whose shirt is this?”
