Beyond the Apocalypse Chapter 145

Vlad and Freya were incredibly fast as they marched back to the Silent Wind Military Base. Even without using their Force, they could run at over one hundred kilometers for several hours without the need for rest.

While the young man and woman ran at that speed, the small yellow cat sat on Vlad’s shoulder, enjoying the scenery.

The group took the shortest path back to the Silent Wind Military Base, one that led them through mountainous terrain. For normal people, this would be an extremely harsh journey, but the strength of their bodies allowed them to make jumps of several meters without a problem.

Along the path, Vlad and Freya saw small packs of demonic beasts. They were weak, with none having over twenty demons, and they seemed lost. These creatures could not pose any threat to the group, and they could simply ignore them, but Vlad made sure to kill everyone he found on his way.

The reason for this was their Origin Force. Of course, a few dozen demonic beasts would not provide his body or soul enough Origin Force for significant improvement, but he wanted to see the effect of the golden energy on his Depravita Fog.

To Vlad’s delight, the Origin Force was able to nurture the Depravita Fog. Although using Origin Force to create the black fog that arose in the ceiling of his Soul Dimension was not possible, there did not seem to be a problem using it as food.

This realization made Vlad ecstatic. Of course, it did not change his objective of taking control over Nagan Mountain, as the amount of chaotic negative psychic energy he could obtain there would improve his Depravita Fog at a much faster rate.

Although the Silent Wind Military Base was nearly two thousand kilometers away from Nagan Mountain, since there were no deviations in their path, and they used their full speed, the trio managed to catch a glimpse of the fortress in less than two weeks.

The first time Freya glanced at the Silent Wind Military Base, her eyes widened. Its location was perfect, capable of enhancing the destructive power of spellcasters and providing impressive defenses. Even if the enemy army was ten times larger, they would have to pay a great price to reach the fortress.

Suddenly, a sharp light appeared in the young woman’s eyes as she felt the pungent smell of blood around the area. It was old, more than a month ago, but she knew a ferocious battle took place here, and thousands of demons perished.

And that was not the only thing Freya detected, as her instincts warned her about all sorts of dangers around the area. She could sense magic formations on the terrain, and if you were to fight in the middle of them, their activation could severely wound even a High Champion.

From a strategic and military point of view, this place was perfect and could work as the core of any organization.

Vlad smiled as he saw the woman in awe at the might of the Silent Wind Military Base. "Let’s go. They are waiting for us."

Freya’s attention was drawn back to reality as she heard Vlad’s words, and she nodded. The trio advanced through the path toward the south gate of the Silent Wind Military Base. That place had been destroyed by the explosion of corpses during the clash with the high demonic horde, but through magic and manpower, it was rebuilt in less than a month.

Although the mountain path was riddled with magic traps and formations, those needed to be activated for their power to be unleashed, so Vlad walked calmly with Freya and Jormungandr.

There were a dozen guards on top of the south wall, and as soon as Vlad’s figure appeared, the gates began to open, and two figures marched toward him. One was a towering man nearly three meters tall clad in golden armor, and the other was an old man with a sharp gaze.

"My King. Lord Jormungandr," the duo shouted in unison, their voices echoing across the area as they clasped their hands and bowed toward Vlad and the small yellow cat on his shoulder.

Vlad smiled and nodded to the duo, indicating they could rise, before directing their attention toward Freya. "Grand Marshal Anglius, Chief Counselor Alonz, the young woman by my side is Princess Freya. She is the leader of a force from the race of vikings that comes from Valhalla."

Grand Marshal Anglius and Chief Counselor Alonz turned toward the young woman the next second, and they were surprised by her beauty. However, immediately their focus was drawn to the immense sense of physical power that emanated from her body, seemingly on an even higher level than their King.

It did not escape the duo that the woman belonged to another race and came from a place known as Valhalla, clearly not part of Terra. However, since she was next to their King, they assumed she was an ally.

"Princess Freya!" The middle-aged marshal and the old politician were very tactful, clasped their hands, and performed a small bow toward the young woman.

Freya clasped her hands and nodded to the duo. It was clear by their titles they were core members of Vlad’s kingdom, and since they showed her respect, she would answer with the same courtesy.

The next second, her eyes glanced around the duo, and she could not help but nod. The middle-aged man in golden armor was still a Mortal and did not have any bloodline, but she could feel a great power in his flesh, making it clear he had not taken shortcuts in his path.

As for the old man, she detected the strength of a Level 1 Mage in him, nothing impressive, yet there was a sense of cunningness in his eyes that made Freya raise her guard. While pure raw power was the best tool to break others, someone with a great mind should never be underestimated.
