Of course, energy supply was just one aspect of the Level System since you could not rise higher if you did not have a strong enough Sea of Consciousness and soul force, but that was not a problem as the Depravita of Gluttony had made sure to enhance them with Origin Force. Right now, the Level cap of Jormungandr was so high, that the only thing that stopped him from reaching Level 16 was time.
After giving one final glance at the Strength Stalactite Magic Formation and making sure everything was in order, Jormungandr left. The formation could not enhance his High Champion Tier body, and Overlord was more qualified to determine who should use its power.
The soldiers performed a deep bow as they saw the small yellow cat leaving, and Jormungandr nodded before making his way to the Xaos Tower. He carefully reached the underground level and saw Vlad in deep contemplation and focus. Deciding not to bother the young man, he went to his alchemy laboratory to continue working on his experiments.
Vlad barely noticed the arrival of Jormungandr into the underground level and carried on with his analysis and simulations until he was finally satisfied with the theoretical work. However, now came the important part: putting the theory into action.
’I need people to test this, but who?’ As Vlad considered who should be granted the demon souls, a certain group appeared in his mind, and with a smile, he took his communicator gem and summoned them.
It did not take long for eleven people to arrive at the underground level of the Xaos Tower. All these people were soldiers, and their skin was pale as if they had not seen the sun for several weeks.
Each of these people had reached Level 6, but that seemed to be the limit of their potential. It was actually quite normal since, for most life forms, Level 5 was a limit they could not break. While these eleven had been granted treasures that helped them push their energy pool forward, they were limited as their Sea of Consciousness reached its limit.
While treasures with massive amounts of energy were precious, they were also not that uncommon, but those that could improve the Sea of Consciousness were something even Guardians would find hard to attain. That was why Origin Force was so precious and useful.
Unfortunately, the job of these people made it so they spent all their time confined in Xaos City and did not have the possibility of hunting aliens and earning Origin Force.
"Xaos King!" All eleven shouted and bowed in the presence of Vlad, their eyes sharp and resolute, full of conviction.
Vlad nodded to the eleven and made them rise. His eyes soon went to four of them he recognized, especially the middle-aged man with the scar on his face.
These eleven soldiers were in charge of the dungeons of Xaos City. The job was one that not many could attain as it required a very strong will and also self-control, as they could not have guards beating up inmates for no reason. Even those on death row were useful, so they needed to be contained and kept alive.
Vlad could feel the power and resolution behind the eyes of each of these soldiers and spoke with a sharp voice that carried a meaningful intent. "You are the guardians of Xaos City’s dungeon. That has deprived you of the chance to attain Origin Force, so I wish to give you the opportunity to become the first to take hold of the new Strength System I have designed. It will gradually nurture your body and spirit, making you stronger every day."
The eyes of the eleven guardians widened as they heard those words, and a powerful desire arose in their hearts. As all soldiers, they wanted to become stronger, but they had a duty and could not blindly charge into the wilderness and hunt for demons.
Vlad gave the group a moment to analyze his words before carrying on with a solemn tone. "I must warn you, this is a completely new Strength System that will involve sealing demons’ souls inside your bodies. I am confident that everything will go fine, but if any of you have any doubts or hesitation and do not wish to carry on, please say so, and I guarantee there will be no backlash."
A wave of shock arose in the hearts of the guardians as they heard those words, as the idea of sealing a soul inside their bodies seemed like a possession, as in the movies of the old world. But they knew that their leader was a World King Candidate canonized by the Plane Will, so there was no way he would carry on such a pact with demons.
After a few seconds, resolution emerged in the eyes of all the soldiers, as they stood strong, each of them showing the determination to carry on and take the demon souls.
Vlad showed a wide smile as he felt the willpower and resolution in these people and nodded before focusing on the middle-aged man with the scar on his face. "Jamis, come with me!"
That man had left a very good impression on Vlad, so he would become the first to try the soul integration, using one of the Champion demon souls with the highest soul integrity and battle power.
"Yes, King!" Jamis immediately shouted, his eyes full of determination as he followed Vlad into the runic laboratory.
Once inside the rune laboratory, Vlad signaled for the man to take off his shirt and took his runic pen as he began to engrave a runic formation in the space right above the heart. After much analysis and simulation with the help of Overlord, they concluded that this was the best place to seal the demon’s soul.
It would use the heart’s circulatory system to spread the power of the demon soul across the body and into the mind while preventing any form of spiritual contamination.
