The man raised his handsome brows with a hint of curiosity.
"Interested in my blood type?"
"I just heard the doctor say you d blood to Chenxi, and it sounds like both of you have a very rare blood type?"
Yan Xinxin blinked her starry eyes lightly, her heartbeat inexplicably quickened.
Mo Chuxi looked at her, his pale lips moved indifferently.
Upon hearing his response, Yan Xinxin widened her watery eyes in shock.
"But when I mentioned last time that Xi had this blood type, why didn’t you react at all?"
Yan Xinxin asked, confused.
Mo Chuxi, however, looked at her calmly.
"What kind of reaction do you think I should have? Like you? ’Wow! Our blood types are the same! How amazing!’ Something like that?"
Listening to the man’s words, half teasing and half playful, Yan Xinxin suddenly felt a sense of being toyed with.
"Mo Chuxi, am I really as dumb as you describe?"
"You’re dumber than I described."
Yan Xinxin felt a pang of frustration in her chest. She even thought the heavens must have let her meet Mo Chuxi just to add to her troubles.
She pouted her small lips, didn’t say anything further, and angrily turned her petite face away, walking into the hospital room.
Mo Chuxi watched her slender frame, wrapped in the oversized hospital gown, his sharp eyebrows creased slightly, then he turned and walked away...
Yan Xinxin sat back on the bed and glanced at the doorway.
Had that scheming man left?
She thought to herself, then lay down flat. Thinking about Mo Chuxi’s answer earlier, she couldn’t help but feel a wave of unease stirring within her heart.
She had thought time was the best remedy to heal wounds, but the wounds from that year could never truly be patched up.
Yan Xinxin closed her eyes tightly, her delicate brows knitted deeply, her fingers clutching the blanket tighter and tighter...
Darkness engulfed her, shapeless and overwhelming.
Just past midnight, Mo Chuxi pushed open the door and entered the hospital room, only to hear Yan Xinxin’s terrified voice begging for mercy.
He quickly stepped to the bedside. Yan Xinxin’s face was pale, her forehead covered in cold sweat, her soft pink lips trembling, whispering words of fear and pleas for help over and over...
She was having a nightmare, one that deeply frightened her.
Yan Xinxin cried softly in fear, and Mo Chuxi clearly saw a single teardrop slide from the corner of her eye.
His heart tightened sharply, and he immediately leaned down.
"Yan Xinxin, Yan Xinxin?"
He called out softly, his palm gently caressing her cheek in an effort to soothe and comfort her, but she was still trapped in her nightmare, shrinking into herself in fear.
Seeing her made Mo Chuxi feel a piercing ache deep in his chest. Without hesitation, he removed his jacket, climbed onto the bed, and extended his arms, pulling her trembling body into his embrace.
"Yan Xinxin, don’t be scared, I’m here..."
As if hearing his comforting words, Yan Xinxin’s emotions gradually calmed, and she instinctively leaned closer into his arms.
"Brother Xi, you’ve finally come to save me..."
