Billionaire's Secret Twins and Rebellious Wife Chapter 272

Upon hearing this, Mo Chuxi’s steps immediately halted.

For no apparent reason, he felt his heartbeat become unusually erratic.

He lifted his dark, deep eyes and looked at Yan Xinxin’s petite figure as she turned a corner toward the restroom. His breath hitched slightly.

"What are you trying to say?"

His voice was as cold and calm as always.

"Uh, if I tell you, Young Master Mo, will you dock my performance bonus out of anger?"

Ah Ding asked hesitantly.

Mo Chuxi’s handsome brows knit lightly as he irritably raised a hand to tug at his shirt collar.

His commanding tone left no room for negotiation.

Ah Ding relented somewhat grudgingly.

"My guess is that Yan Xinxin entered your room that night."

Without further hesitation, Ah Ding voiced his thoughts. Mo Chuxi’s fingers tightened, and a complex expression surged within his deep eyes.

"But this is still just my speculation and hasn’t been confirmed. Besides, I can’t understand—if Yan Xinxin really entered your room, how did she get in? If it was you, Young Master Mo, who let her in, then why the extra step of asking me to investigate what happened with Yan Xinxin five years ago at the Universal Star International Hotel?"

Ah Ding finished in one breath, only to realize that the only sound left on the other end of the call was a continuous "beep beep"...

Mo Chuxi had hung up. His tall, aloof figure stood against the wall, his gaze wandering far into the distance.

Recalling Ah Ding’s report just now, he inexplicably felt an overwhelming turmoil in his heart.

Yan Xinxin’s school badge had fallen in his room.

How could she possibly have entered his room?

But if the badge didn’t belong to Yan Xinxin, whose could it be? How could an honor student from Ancheng University appear in his room?

Mo Chuxi couldn’t focus his thoughts. Worse yet, he realized he was too afraid to think more deeply about it.

"Why are you standing here? Were you waiting for me?"

A sweet, clear voice as if drawn from memory startled Mo Chuxi back to reality. He turned abruptly to see Yan Xinxin standing before him.

She stood close, dainty as a sparrow seeking shelter.

Mo Chuxi’s fingers, still holding his phone, fidgeted uneasily as his deep gaze fixated intently on Yan Xinxin’s innocent, cat-like eyes filled with confusion.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Yan Xinxin felt inexplicably flustered under his stare.

She blinked curiously at him before turning to leave.

But before she could take a single step, the person behind her grabbed her wrist.

Yan Xinxin turned her head in confusion, noticing the young men and women seated at nearby tables were all sneaking glances in their direction.

In an upscale restaurant , most patrons were from the upper echelons of society and almost all recognized Mo Chuxi.

Being the center of attention was far from comfortable. Yan Xinxin tried to pull her hand back, but when she raised her eyes, she was met with an expression on Mo Chuxi’s face that was unusually strange.

"Mo Chuxi, what are you..."

"Yan Xinxin, five years ago at Ancheng University, did you always wear the honor student badge?"

Her wide, jet-black eyes sparkled in disbelief.

"Why are you asking this?"

"...Yes! So what if I did?"

Yan Xinxin blinked, her expression filled with confusion as she looked at the man whose brows were furrowed deeply.

"Mo Chuxi, why are you asking about my past? What are you investigating this time?"

"Did you ever lose your badge?"

He ignored her question entirely and pressed further.

Yan Xinxin frowned, trying to recall, her soft lips moving gently.

"I think it was around that time—I suddenly couldn’t find my badge anywhere. Later, I thought, since I was about to take leave from school anyway, I didn’t bother replacing it. Mo Chuxi, why are you asking about all this?"
