Suddenly, everything went dark!
Yan Xinxin froze for a second. Just as she was about to resist, a familiar faint orchid scent reached her nose.
"Didn’t you say I’m the most handsome man you’ve ever seen? Then why were you looking at another man for more than three seconds?"
Mo Chuxi’s deep and slightly husky voice swept past her ear like a plucking of strings, melodious and entrancing.
Yan Xinxin was startled, and it was only then that she realized Mo Chuxi’s palm was covering her eyes.
She extended her free right hand and pried his hand away. As she lifted her gaze, her pupils reflected a breathtakingly handsome face that made her heartbeat quicken.
Yan Xinxin silently took a deep breath, then parted her lips to speak.
"What’s this? Is Young Master Mo jealous again?"
She asked playfully, noticing Mo Chuxi looking at her with a complex expression.
"Young Master Mo, you’ve been acting really strange these past two days."
Mo Chuxi responded nonchalantly and turned away, though his heartbeat began to grow inexplicably unsettled.
Although he hadn’t obtained a definitive answer yet, he felt like he was already close to the truth.
Now, facing Yan Xinxin, his feelings and thoughts began to shift subtly.
That sudden surge of guilt and criminal unease pressed heavily on him.
"Where did you go this afternoon?"
He asked while sitting down on the sofa.
Yan Xinxin paused briefly, then smiled.
"Today is Xi’s lunar fifth birthday. I went to the dessert shop where I used to work part-time to make a cake."
"Today is Xi’s birthday?"
Mo Chuxi suddenly raised his electrifying eyes, his gaze growing heavy.
Yan Xinxin nodded, quietly burying the sense of loss and pain deep within her heart.
Seeing Yan Xinxin nod, Mo Chuxi suddenly felt his heartbeat begin to surge warmly.
Today was Xi’s lunar birthday—five years old.
