"Sean Lennox? How do you know him?"
"Uh... through an introduction," Clara hesitated, worried that if he kept pressing, he might figure out it was Hunter Warren and Faye Townsend who had set it up.
She knew how much her uncle, Oliver, disliked Hunter, so she had to leave it at that.
She stood up. "Uncle Oliver, stop interrogating me. He’s a good person, so don’t worry."
"Was it Faye Townsend who introduced him to you?"
"No," Clara denied outright, but Oliver sneered. "Well, Clara, seems like you’ve learned to lie to me."
"Uncle Oliver, does it really matter who introduced him?"
Clara sighed, disappointed, and looked at him. "Shouldn’t you be asking if he’s good to me?
If I love him, or about how our relationship is going?"
If he truly cared about her, that’s the kind of questions he should be asking.
"I know who Sean Lennox is. His business methods are very similar to Hunter Warren’s.
He’ll undoubtedly make waves in the business world in the future.
But associating with someone like Hunter? He’s no better.
I don’t approve of your marriage to him."
Clara closed her eyes. "I’m almost thirty."
"Age isn’t an issue."
"Age might not be an issue for you, but it is for me.
I’m thirty now. In the years when I should be dreaming of love, I’ve been chasing your footsteps.
I want someone who can truly love me, care for me, and bring me happiness.
I want to have children for a man who loves me.
At my age, many people are already mothers. Seeing their faces lit up with maternal glow, do you have any idea how envious I am?"
Clara shook her head. "You don’t understand, because you don’t care about my feelings at all.
Uncle Oliver, by rights, since you raised me, I should consult you on my marriage.
But... this time, I want to make the decision for myself.

Clara stared stubbornly at him. Her choices were always met with his opposition,
as if she were still a rebellious child to him.
But heavens knew how much she hated his attitude right now.
She actually understood that Sean Lennox was right: if Uncle Oliver really loved her, how could he let her waste her youth waiting on him?
Even though it was her own insistence to do so.
But over the years, hadn’t he done nothing to stop her feelings for him?
Oliver frowned deeply, displeased as he stared at her. "So you’re going to ignore me now, is that it?"
Clara gave a bitter smile. "Uncle Oliver, I’m getting married. Can’t you give me your blessing?"
Oliver snorted coldly and left the study. Clara lowered her gaze and bit her lip, her heart filled with an indescribable bitterness.
Oliver drove straight to Faye Townsend’s house.
He kept ringing the doorbell. The piercing sound startled the people inside, making them think something serious had happened.
Uncle Rivers saw Oliver at the door and quickly went to inform Faye.
Faye threw on a coat and came downstairs. "Uncle Rivers, don’t worry. I’ll go check it out."
She stepped outside, opened the door, and saw Oliver standing there, seething with anger.
"Oliver, it’s late. Why are you here..."
"Why did you introduce Sean Lennox to Clara?" Oliver snapped and strode forward, towering over her.
Faye felt the pressure from his presence. Glancing at his thin clothes, she frowned. "Is this why you’ve come? It’s cold outside. Let’s go inside to talk."
"Faye Townsend, do you even have a conscience?" Oliver outstretched his hand, swatting away Faye’s attempt to touch his arm.
