"Boastful, aren’t you? Let’s make a bet then. The deadline is the end of this year.
If I lose, I’ll willingly take out a million dollars from my own pocket to give you.
But if you lose... I know you’re reckless with money and probably can’t cough up a million anyway.
So next year, you’ll work for the company without pay for a whole year."
Richard Townsend sneered, "Pfft, a bet it is. You think I’d be scared of you?"
He stood up lazily and strolled toward the door. "I’m out. Make sure to get me a capable secretary, oh, and I only want a female one."
As Richard left, Faye smirked mischievously, thinking that even if it’s a female secretary, she’d assign the ugliest one possible.
That way, he could clearly distinguish the beauty and the beast between the two secretaries.
Recently, Faye had gained some insight—dealing with a rough guy like Richard was all about stroking his ego.
Lately, she’d been going with the flow and praising him, and surprisingly, his ambition had increased by ten percent.
But the more she opposed him, the more he’d get worked up.

The two of them entered the supermarket, feeling a bit out of place.
Hunter wasn’t someone who actively visited supermarkets, and although Faye had often gone grocery shopping with Lucia while abroad, this was her first time back home.
She seemed a little giddy. "Hey, have you ever shopped for groceries?"
"First time," Hunter said as he pushed the cart with one hand and held her shoulder with the other.
"How long has it been since you last set foot in a supermarket?"
Hunter thought for a moment. "Probably a few years."
Faye chuckled, which made sense. Everything Hunter needed had always been meticulously prepared by his secretary. Why would he need to shop himself?
Faye glanced around. "The produce section... oh, over there."
She casually helped him push the cart as they headed toward the vegetable stands.
The two of them, an attractive couple dressed impeccably, naturally drew attention in the supermarket.
Faye picked up a head of broccoli and placed it in the cart. "Ordinary families live this mundane ’rice, oil, and salt’ kind of life, right?"
"Probably," Hunter replied, glancing at her. "They must have too much free time if they can afford to dawdle in places like these."
"If we didn’t have maids at home, we’d have to buy groceries and cook for ourselves too, wouldn’t we?"
Hunter shook his head. "It’s impossible for us not to have maids at home.
The salary of one maid is peanuts per month compared to how quickly we accumulate wealth—literally by the minute.
Hiring maids to handle our daily needs is the best arrangement for lives like ours."
"Still, you have to admit, it’s kind of nice for a couple to occasionally shop for groceries and take a stroll together, isn’t it?"
Hunter tilted his head and kissed her gently on the forehead. "Anything I do with you, I’ll find joy in it."
"Oh, Clara and Sean Lennox got their marriage certificate today."
"See? I told you there was something going on between those two."
"But isn’t it bizarre? Two people who are completely unrelated end up getting married.
Their paths barely intersect, and they’d only met once! It made me realize Clara is a total wild card."
Faye looked over at him with a sweet smile as she spoke.
"And you’re amused," Hunter said, shaking his head at her.
"What’s wrong with that? Isn’t it a happy occasion? Smiling seems pretty normal to me."
"A happy occasion? You have no idea you’ve already made an enemy because of Clara, do you?"
Faye blinked, puzzled. "Enemy? Who’s my enemy?"
"You..." Hunter affectionately ruffled her hair. "Doesn’t Oliver Turner despise you?"
Faye pouted. "What’s the point of him hating me? Clara stayed by his side for so many years; he’s had more opportunities than anyone.
If he really wanted to marry Clara, he wouldn’t have waited until now.
Last night, when he heard Clara was marrying Sean Lennox, he actually came to confront me.
He even told Clara he wanted to marry her."
