As Kay Forrest walked past the mattress on the floor to his bed, he said, "You’re not going to pounce on me tonight, are you?"
Jane Quinlan glared at him with humiliation, resentfully saying, "No, I won’t."
"Then I’ll trust you one more time."
Kay Forrest smugly sat down on the bed, "Ah, wow, it’s really soft and comfortable. Beds are the best."
Jane Quinlan walked over, locked the door from the inside, pulled up the quilt, and lay down to sleep.
The truth was, she feared that if she didn’t hurry to sleep, she’d end up wanting to hit him with a pillow.
This guy just needed to be taught a lesson.
Kay Forrest looked at her in surprise: "Aren’t you going to take a shower?"
Damn... it’s a paradigm shift, there are actually women who go to sleep without showering at night.
"Don’t you find that disgusting?"
"Do you have a phobia of dirt?" she frowned at him.
"Not really, but I just find it...disgusting."
"Hey, I’m just not showering for one night, you don’t have to insult me by using the word ’disgusting’."
Kay Forrest smiled smugly and didn’t bother her as he laid down too.
Jane Quinlan closed her eyes, her back turned to Kay Forrest, feigning cleanliness.
Kay Forrest also turned on his side to face her: "Hey, Jane, I’m curious, what grudge do you have with Savannah Golden and Rowan Golden?"
"If there wasn’t any grudge, why would everyone look forward to watching the drama when they came looking for you? Wouldn’t it be nice to just talk about it since it’s all in the past? Things hidden in the heart will always remain issues. Only when spoken can they turn into memories."
Jane Quinlan rolled over onto her back; without looking at Kay Forrest, she puckered her lips and then asked, "Have you ever been played by a woman?"
"Who dares to play me, they must be out of their mind." Kay Forrest scoffed, which Jane perceived as showing off.
"I’ve been played, by those two. We were high school classmates, and during our second year of high school, we were in the same class.
I was always the top student in our class, Savannah was second.
No matter if it was a mock exam or midterms and finals, she was always second to me.
Later, everyone started calling her ’Eternal Runner-up.’
Back then, my relationship with Savannah wasn’t good.
To be honest, I didn’t really have any close friends during high school.
Because I was more focused on my studies, I didn’t have time to make friends.

The reason he pursued me was that he liked Savannah, but she didn’t want to bother with him because of her studies.
Rowan’s persistent nagging annoyed Savannah.
To reject Rowan, she told him that if she scored higher than me in the college entrance exam, she would accept his pursuit.
