Jane Quinlan rolled her eyes and her face turned red. She was really digging her own grave here.
Why even bring this up: "Kay Forrest, can you be serious for a moment?"
"Was I not being serious first? I feel like all I said was that you’re quite the man.
And frankly, I don’t think I was wrong.
In my eyes, you’re more manly than most men.
Among all the men I know, none can devour eleven steaks like you.
Anyone who marries you better earn a lot, or you’ll eat them into bankruptcy."
Jane gritted her teeth: "Are you done yet? If you keep this up, I’m leaving."
Kay burst out laughing: "Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you.
Let’s eat first. After dinner, I have somewhere to take you."
"Where else are we going?"
He raised his eyebrows mysteriously: "It’s a secret."
"Pfft, once we finish eating and go, I’ll know. Keeping it a secret now is pointless."
"Ladies should speak more gracefully. Don’t just blurt out words like ’fart’ or ’crap’."
Jane glanced at him: "So, now I’m not a man anymore, I’m back to being a girl?
In your eyes, my gender seems to switch quite freely."
He looked at her awkward expression and felt amused.
Somehow, she seemed to have become a source of enjoyment in his life.
Teasing her for fun was truly delightful.
Since Darnley and Miya were taken by Hunter Warren, he decided he’d tease this woman instead.
The dinner reservation Kay made in advance was quickly served, and Jane knew that in front of him, her image was already lost, so she simply indulged and ate heartily.
But he ate very elegantly, completely unaffected by her rough eating.
She didn’t quite understand why he would bring her to such an expensive place to eat, knowing she could eat so much.
Could it be he really had more money than he knew what to do with?
As dinner was drawing to a close, a woman approached Kay to make conversation.
The woman was dressed... stylishly.
She asked if Kay had time that evening and if he’d like to grab a drink after dinner.
Kay gestured to Jane and said, "I would really love to have a drink with you, but as you can see, I have other plans tonight.
Maybe another time, I’ll call you."
When the woman turned to look at Jane, there was a look of disdain on her face.
But since Kay said so, she could only smile and say, "Then I’ll wait for your call, Mr. Forrest."
After the woman left, Jane continued eating and leaned in curiously: "That woman seems wealthy."
"I saw the bag in her hand. While I don’t know the brand, I do recognize the interlocking C logo; it should be a designer brand."
Kay suppressed his laughter. Interlocking C, huh? He was quite entertained by her worldview.
"What if I told you, I have no idea who that woman is. Would you believe me?"
Jane was surprised: "Then why did you tell her you’d be in touch?"
"If I said I didn’t know her, she’d be upset. But if I said we’d talk later, wouldn’t she leave happily? Am I not kind? Do you admire me?"
"Get lost." Jane put down her chopsticks: "You’ve ruined my appetite."
He stood up with a smile: "It seems to me you’ve already eaten your fill. Come on, let’s go now that you’re full."
He walked outside, and Jane quickly followed.
As Kay went to get the car, Jane stood at the restaurant entrance waiting.
The weather was a bit chilly, so she pulled her coat tighter and looked to the left.
At that moment, a car stopped in front of her, and someone got out from the backseat.
Since they were quite close, Jane immediately caught sight of the person’s face.
She instantly panicked, thinking about how small the world really is.
"Jane?" The man looked up and saw her as well, and he was visibly surprised.
