"I’ll have my dad send you a message with the address, okay?"
After hanging up, Kay Forrest’s eyes returned to the document, "So, caught by that little kid from last time?"
"Sue’s dad is going on a business trip, and she’s too scared to sleep alone at night, so she wants me to stay with her for the night."
"You’re being nice, aren’t you afraid that little girl is tricking you?
Maybe her dad isn’t on a business trip and just wants to lure you in to mess with you?"
"What’s there to mess with?"
Kay Forrest gave her a once-over, "Yeah, there’s nothing much to mess with."
Jane Quinlan glared at him, "Hey, what’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying I lack charm?
Just because you’re not interested doesn’t mean others won’t be!"
"So, are you hoping someone else will be interested?"
Jane was taken aback, realizing in her impulsive moment she might have said the wrong thing.
Oh my, she herself didn’t know, she was just babbling nonsense.
"What I mean is... fine, you’re not interested, but don’t insult me."
"Are you perhaps hoping I would be interested in you? Wow, I didn’t expect you to be quite open-minded.
If I had known you were , Jane Quinlan, I would have indulged you sooner."
Jane Quinlan gritted her teeth and glared at him, "Forget it, I’m not talking to you."
She put down her phone, started her car and intended to leave, but she couldn’t win any arguments with him.
Really a pity this guy isn’t a lawyer.
The car hadn’t even started moving when her phone rang again. It was another unfamiliar number, so Jane thought for a moment and picked it up, "Hello, who is this?"
"Hello, Miss Quinlan, this is Adrian Golden.
Sue just called you, right? I apologize for the trouble her request may have caused you."
"Oh, Mr. Golden, it’s nothing, Sue is quite adorable.
I remember being alone at home back when I was little too, and it can indeed be a bit scary, so I agreed to her request."
"Thank you so much, Miss Quinlan."
Jane Quinlan smiled softly, "You’re welcome, Mr. Golden. Please send me the address later."
"Then I won’t stand on ceremony. I’m really worried about my daughter while I’m away on business."
After hanging up, Jane Quinlan finally started the car and drove off.
Kay Forrest tossed the document completely to the front of the car, "I think this Adrian guy has ulterior motives towards you.
You better be careful, just in case you get taken advantage of."
"He’s a family man, what could he possibly scheme against me?"
"He’s had a family, but he doesn’t have a wife now, okay?
His home is just missing a female owner. Can’t you see that Sue wants you to be her stepmom?"
Jane Quinlan rolled her eyes at him, he does have quite the imagination.
"Be careful, or you’ll end up being someone’s stepmom."
Jane Quinlan sighed, "I believe in love. If love comes, what’s wrong with being a stepmom?"
"Oh come on, how can you be so undiscerning?
You’re still young, why so eager to get married?"
Jane Quinlan pouted, "Is that not okay?"
"What’s your ideal age for marriage?"
"The year after next? Here’s the deal, pick the man you like within the next two years, but don’t become someone’s stepmom.
If you still haven’t found anyone by then, how about I marry you?"
Right in the middle of the street, Jane Quinlan hit the brakes.
Both of them leaned forward due to inertia.
Kay Forrest shouted, "Are you crazy?"
"What did you just say..."
The rear of the car was hit, both of their bodies jolted forward again, though it wasn’t too serious.
Before Kay Forrest’s body lunged forward, he naturally reached out to protect her forehead.
After they steadied themselves, Kay Forrest looked at her with concern, "Are you alright?"
Jane Quinlan was stunned, her eyes blinked several times before she stammered, "W-we were hit."
"I asked if you’re okay?"
Jane Quinlan looked at him and shook her head.
Kay Forrest let out a sigh of relief, "As long as you’re okay."
The driver of the car behind was about to get out and argue, but upon seeing the car in front was a Hector May, he didn’t dare get out.
Before getting out, Kay Forrest said to Jane Quinlan, "Stay put, don’t get out."
Jane Quinlan nodded, her hands trembling a bit.
Kay Forrest went to the car behind and knocked on the driver’s window.
After hesitating for a long time, the driver finally rolled down the window.
He mustered up some courage and said, "Why did you suddenly stop in the middle of the road?"
"Are you okay, are you injured?"
"Oh... my neck... my neck hurts."
Kay Forrest smirked, pulled out a wallet from his pocket, and handed the driver a wad of cash, "Take this money and get yourself checked at the hospital.
