Yvonne was displeased, "What do you mean by that?"
"Miss Stone, you actually know what I mean, so why ask?"
Kay Forrest looked proudly at the helper he’d brought along—not bad, passable.
Although the attitude was still lacking just a little bit.
He stood up, adjusted his collar, and took Jane Quinlan’s hand, "Alright, it seems place isn’t suitable for dining today. Let’s go, I’ll take you somewhere else to eat."
Seeing Kay was about to leave with Jane, Yvonne quickly stood up and said, "Kay, don’t get me wrong, I’m helping you here, nowadays girls..."
"I don’t care about how girls are nowadays; I will unconditionally trust my own woman.
And besides, your methods of catching a rich bachelor are indeed outdated."
Kay casually pulled Jane into his arms, "Okay, we don’t need to stay here any longer to let others insult you. Let’s go."
Jane nodded and left with him.
Yvonne gritted her teeth, glaring at the departing couple with eyes full of rage.
Once they left the restaurant, Kay still had his arm around her shoulders.
Jane’s shoulder jerked, causing his hand to slide down naturally. He gave her a thumbs-up, "You performed well just now."
She rolled her eyes at him, "That girl seemed to genuinely want to date you."
"She genuinely wanted to date my family’s status.
There are plenty of women like that, I’m not interested."
Jane was speechless, "You talk as if your family’s status is so amazing."
"It is pretty good. Do you want to come check it out?"
She waved her hand, "Forget it, I won’t go looking for that trouble."
"That’s why I say you’re silly. If it were any other woman, she’d already be following me eagerly.
Only you are foolish enough not to seize such a good opportunity."
"Can you stop talking nonsense? Look at the time now; Sue is home alone and might be scared."
Jane said while walking towards his car.
Kay pouted, "A kid you met by chance, is it worth your concern?"
"It’s a matter of integrity," Jane met his gaze, "If I hadn’t promised, it’d be different. But since I did, I must follow through. Hurry up and give me a ride."
"We haven’t eaten yet." He grabbed her wrist, "You agreed I’d treat you to something delicious."
"Not eating, dieting tonight."
Jane said as she already moved towards the passenger seat.
Kay, helpless, opened the car door.
Jane opened the door and got in, and he drove her to Adrian Golden’s residential complex.
After getting out of the car, Jane waved at him, "Alright, just drop me off here, you can head back now."
"Go back? No way, do you know how many men use children to trick women nowadays?
If Adrian Golden tricks you, it’ll be troublesome."
Kay leaned back, folding his arms, and pulled out his phone to dial her number.
Jane was puzzled, "Did you dial the wrong number?"
"I’m calling you. I’ll wait here, keep your phone on as you go upstairs, and call me if anything happens. I’ll rush up to rescue you."
Jane, hearing his words, felt touched for a moment and nodded as she headed upstairs.
What he did made sense, given the chaotic society today.
Jane found the unit number and rang the doorbell. Soon, a small child’s voice came from inside.
"Is that Sue? It’s Auntie Jane."
The door made a snapping sound as it was opened from inside, and little Sue tiptoed to let her in.
"Auntie, I thought you weren’t coming." Sue looked up at her, full of smiles.
She reached out and took Jane’s hand, "Auntie, come in quickly, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time."
Jane apologized, "Sorry, Sue, Auntie had something important to take care of after work.
But I promise, once I finished, I came straight to you."
She said this to Sue before raising her eyes to look around the house.
Upon looking, she was startled.
Sue’s home was decorated very lavishly.
Even more so than Kay’s place.
The key point was its size and spaciousness.
The property prices in this area must be high; it seems Sue’s dad has a good job.
"Auntie, wait a moment. I’ll call my dad to let him know you’re here so he can relax."
Sue ran to the sofa, picked up the phone, and dialed her dad’s number.
Jane also took out her phone and walked aside to tell Kay, "All good now, you can head back."
Jane hung up before Kay could say anything.
