This indeed made Jane Quinlan feel a bit distressed.
She felt that some things were said by Kay Forrest’s dad, but he wouldn’t listen.

"I thought you would take longer."
"I was supposed to take longer because someone invited me for dinner.
But I was worried you’d feel awkward at home alone with my dad, so I came back earlier.
How’s that, am I a thoughtful boyfriend?"
Jane Quinlan gave Kay Forrest a thumbs up, "Awesome."
"What’s the use of just saying, isn’t there a reward?"
Jane Quinlan rolled her eyes; such a thing needed a reward.
He had the nerve to ask.
The most important thing is... she’s actually in his house.
If he really didn’t come back, that would be too much.
Seeing her not speaking, Kay Forrest muttered in her ear in the kitchen: "Reward, once."
Jane Quinlan immediately blushed, "Get out."
Kay Forrest left with a teasing smile.
This naughty girl Jane is interesting — she blushes with just a tease.
After dinner, Kay Forrest indicated that he was leaving.
Jane Quinlan thought, he really doesn’t want to spend even a minute with his dad.

"My dad has his lifestyle as well.
I’m all grown up now; I can’t always stick to him."
"When you weren’t home this afternoon, we talked for a while.
I think your uncle really needs you.
He only has you as a son, and he only has you to miss now."
Kay Forrest couldn’t help but laugh: "Did my dad complain to you?"
"No, I was looking at your childhood photos and said you were cute.
Then your uncle said that not only were you cute but also smart as a child.
The only regret is that he couldn’t spend more time with you during your childhood because of his busy career."
Kay Forrest turned his head to look out the window, his voice much calmer.
"It wasn’t just a lack of time together; it was almost no time together.
I’ve seen my dad fewer times than I’ve seen Jane Quinlan’s dad."
Kay Forrest continued with a mischievous smile: "I don’t like being with my dad.
It has nothing to do with the so-called rebellion.
It’s just because he didn’t participate in my childhood and teenage years when I needed him the most.
Now that he needs me, I also don’t know how to give him the companionship."
Hearing him say this, Jane Quinlan felt a bit disheartened: "I didn’t expect you to think this way, Kay Forrest."
