Automatically, she took a step back, nearly stepping into the flower bed, thinking he would catch her if she fell by accident, as he was already prepared to do so.
But she astutely sidestepped half a step to stand firm on her own.
"Wife? That’s a laugh.
The whole world knows I am your ex-wife."
"But right now, the law doesn’t take the world’s opinion into account, it only recognizes the marriage certificate."
