Bloodline of the Wizard Chapter 40

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Inconceivable Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Inconceivable The field fell into a moment of silence, everyone stood rooted to the spot, faces frozen in terror as they looked towards the direction from which the roar had come.

Ronan’s expression turned grave, he gently held the hilt of the one-handed sword beneath his magic robe, pushed through the crowd in front of him, and quickly walked towards the very front of the group.

Before he could get close, the bushes in front violently shook, followed by two figures tumbling out one after the other in a scramble.

Those two were also clearly wizards fleeing in distress, their robes tattered and bodies covered in dust and dirt.

Seeing the sudden appearance of a large group of people, their expressions froze momentarily, then immense relief washed over their faces.

However, the next second, panic took over as they pointed behind them and shouted loudly, “There’s…

there’s a Magic Beast!

Before they could finish speaking, an overwhelmingly strong stench of blood and decay wafted over from up ahead.

Sounds of large swaths of bushes being trampled rang out, as a windstorm kicked up and a terrifying creature the size of a wild buffalo appeared in front of everyone.

It had the appearance of a crawling creature, with reddish-brown skin and scales all over, and its back was adorned with many black spines as long as daggers.

A long forked tongue flickered in and out, as a whole, it looked like a massive lizard.

When its pale gold beastly eyes swept over Ronan, he almost felt as though he was making eye contact with a person.

It proved that beneath the cold, ferocious, and bloodthirsty nature of the monster in front of him, it might possess intelligence not inferior to a human’s.

At some point, Old Wells had arrived behind Ronan with his cane, speaking quickly in a serious tone, “It’s a Two-headed Demon Lizard!”

“Then how come it only has one head?”

“Once it truly grows a second head, it will become a First Rank Demon Beast, then only an Official Wizard could deal with it..”

Ronan let out a light breath, nodded, and focused his energy on the Demon Lizard ahead.

In reality, facing this legendary Magical Beast, Ronan didn’t feel as nervous as he had imagined.

The sense of impending danger brought by his intuition wasn’t particularly strong; this indicated that the prowess of the Two-headed Demon Lizard with just one head was only mediocre.

What made Ronan physically uncomfortable was more its ugly and loathsome appearance and the relentless stench of foul odor assaulting his nostrils.

Without hesitation, Ronan uttered syllables, his spiritual power thrumming in his mind like plucked strings, resonating together, and a large number of free-floating Energy Particles gathered under his control….

A sizeable blue-black Light Ball materialized out of thin air, which, following Ronan’s pointing finger, hurtled towards the Two-headed Demon Lizard straight ahead.

An enormous explosion sounded, and the ground beneath everyone’s feet trembled violently.

People like Old Wells, who had seen Ronan’s strength before, were not overly shocked, but for the other wizards witnessing Ronan’s power for the first time, the unexpected blow startled them into staggering backward, and their gaze towards Ronan changed in an instant.

Although they were Lower-level Wizards and low-level apprentices, they were not utterly unfamiliar with Intermediate Apprentices casting their Spells.

Could the power of an Intermediate Zero Rank Spell be this formidable?

how could the casting speed be so fast?!

Many people were staring at the huge crater formed by the explosion where the Light Ball hit, swallowing hard with faces full of shock and confusion.

Ronan, however, cursed quietly to himself.

He had missed with his Spell!

The moment he had released it, he sensed that the silhouette of the Two-headed Demon Lizard had vanished.

That thing was too fast, Ronan’s spiritual power only caught a fleeting black shadow before losing its lock on the target.

This was the first time Ronan had ever cast an Energy Missile and missed!

“…Eye of Truth Peeping…”

Ronan quickly recited the spell, perfectly executing the Detection Skill.

His lake-blue eyes took on a faint white glow.

The muscles throughout his body tensed as he searched for the Two-headed Demon Lizard’s trail.

The power of the Energy Missile seemed to have increased by a notch, the recent one almost draining a quarter of his spiritual power.

Ronan could clearly feel that he was closer to surpassing the level of an Expert with his[Energy Missile], but if the next three[Energy Missiles]couldn’t resolve the battle at hand…

He might have to pick up his bucket and run.

The[Detection Skill]quickly captured the traces of Alien Energy Particles lingering in the air; the Magical Beast with naturally compatible energy physiques had nowhere to hide under the Detection Skill.

Ronan pointed at a bush and fired another[Energy Missile]directly.

This time, he played a little trick—while casting, he constantly looked in another direction, and his fingertips deliberately pointed randomly when he threw the missile.

It turned out his little trick was indeed effective.

The second[Energy Missile]precisely hit the Two-headed Demon Lizard that was lurking in the dark.

Ronan only heard an explosion mixed with a piercing roar, and then…

Then the Two-headed Demon Lizard ran away!

“Quite intelligent, aren’t you…

Knowing to run away immediately when you can’t afford to provoke…”

Ronan walked over to the impact site of the second[Energy Missile], and upon seeing a small section of bloody severed tail and the spotty trail of blood extending in one direction, he couldn’t help but click his tongue in wonder.

His heart was still thumping wildly, not yet fully decoupled from the state of recent combat.

The battle came and went quickly, much to Ronan’s surprise.

Carrying the half-tail left by the Two-headed Demon Lizard, Ronan returned to be greeted by a multitude of eyes filled with respect and awe.

Those Wandering Wizards who had been restless and thinking about fleeing had completely abandoned any thought of leaving the group after witnessing Ronan’s formidable strength.

Fear was one aspect, but another was the desire to forge good relations with a strong Apprentice Wizard like Ronan, preferably by latching onto his coattails.

Especially given Ronan’s outwardly young appearance, those with an active mind had already taken the initiative to come forward and offer to carry things for Ronan.

Ronan’s expression lightened slightly; no one dislikes being admired and revered by others, especially someone his age.

Just as Ronan casually intended to toss the severed tail of the Two-headed Demon Lizard to an especially eager Apprentice Wizard, a sudden, intense and unprecedented sense of crisis, like a ferocious beast, pounced from behind and viciously clung to Ronan’s heart.

Time seemed to slow at that moment; Ronan could only manage to perform a backward flipping motion.

The fruits of his daily[Ascetic Body Refinement]practice showed at this moment.

His muscles tensed, flipping his spine into the air in a posture nearly defying the laws of physics, supported only by his feet without touching the ground.

And in the next instant after performing this action, his face was covered inch by inch by a thick shadow.

Within Ronan’s wide-open eyes, a massive and decayed black Blade swiftly appeared, silently sweeping by his nose and slashing forward.

The Wizard Apprentice with a face full of smiles, reaching out his hands to receive the item Ronan was about to pass, was swept over by the black Blade…

Under the shadow, his body silently split at the waist, blood spraying like a fountain, his face still carrying a pleasing grin…

Ronan slapped the ground fiercely, flipping and rolling away quickly like a fish thrashing in a desperate effort.

When he stood firmly again with a solemn face, all he saw in the distance was a two-meter-tall skeleton standing quietly.

It was entwined in tendrils of black mist, wearing tattered and decaying armor, and holding a rusty longsword and shield in its hands.

In the empty eye sockets devoid of any flesh, green flames burned, eerily watching Ronan.

At that moment, a soft “tsk” sound came from behind the skeleton.

A figure in a Black Robe stepped out.

It was a short-haired man with plain features and pale, bloodless skin covered in crimson tattoos.

He looked at Ronan with a very surprised expression, and his smile was like a corpse just crawled out of a grave.

you actually survived.”
