Born In Ashes: The Enigma Chapter 37

"I am adopted. I am definitely an adopted child they picked up from a garbage dumpster."

Azrael, Silas, and Ashara stared at Kael, who was drawing small circles on the ground while muttering about being adopted, with speechless expressions on their faces.

"Do you want to get spanked?" Ashara asked with narrowed eyes, her hand already moving forward.

Kael stiffened the moment he heard Ashara’s words and immediately stopped drawing circles on ground, covering his bum with both hands.

Seeing that he had dropped the act, Ashara gently rubbed his head. "We will be back by tomorrow. Don’t cause any trouble for Lia and the others."

"Can’t you bring me with you too?" Kael asked in a hopeful voice.

"We are not going for a picnic, Kael," Silas shook his head. "But once we return, let’s all go somewhere fun."

Kael’s eyes lit up when he heard Silas’ words. "You promise?"

"Yes, let’s go to that galaxy amusement park you were talking about a few days ago," Azrael added, and Kael finally showed an expression that seemed to say ’plan succeeded’ as he waved his hand.

"Since that’s the case, you guys should hurry up and leave."

Silas’ mouth twitched when he saw Kael’s sudden change in attitude and he also felt the urge to spank him.

Ashara just smiled at his response and reminded him, "Eat your food on time, and tell Rowan if you have any problems."

"Don’t worry, Mom, I am not a kid anymore."

"Yes, yes, you are a grown up brat who’s already learned how to scam your parents," Silas muttered under his breath, and before Kael could say anything back, a silver light engulfed Azrael, Ashara, and Silas.

The next moment, all three of them disappeared. fre ewebno(v)e\l.(c)om

Kael looked at the spot where they had just been, and remembering what Silas had said before leaving, he instinctively covered his bum again, feeling like he would be spanked once Silas returned.

In the study room where Azrael had his first conversation with Ashara and Silas, a flash of silver light appeared, and all three of them materialized there.

Azrael raised an eyebrow when he realized they were in his father’s study. He wasn’t surprised that they had arrived instantly as he already knew Silas had mastery over the power of space and could teleport to distant places with ease.

What did surprise him was that he had thought they would be going somewhere far away. But instead, Silas had brought them to his study room.

Noticing Azrael’s confused expression, Silas didn’t say a word. Instead, he walked over to one of the study’s walls and placed his hand on a painting.

There was nothing particularly special about the painting. It was a simple depiction of a grassy plain, flowing lakes, and a stone hut like structure sitting on a small hill.

The moment Silas placed his hand on the painting, it began to glow faintly as the power of space surged from his body.

Azrael narrowed his eyes at the sight and had a guess in his mind. But because it sounded too absurd, he didn’t dare believe it. Instead, he looked at Ashara.

"Mom, don’t tell me we are going to enter that painting."

Ashara smiled and looked at Silas proudly. "That’s right. That painting is a relic your father created using his power of space."

Azrael was genuinely stunned when he heard her words. Though he already knew that this world was vastly different from Earth, the idea of entering a painting as if it were a real world was still shocking.

"These kinds of relics must be extremely rare, right?" He asked after recovering from his surprise.

"Yes," Ashara nodded. "Although creating storage rings and similar items is difficult, it’s still achievable with current technology. But crafting a relic that contains a world of its own... that’s on an entirely different level."

Azrael looked at Silas with admiration in his eyes, wondering if he would ever be able to create something similar.

Feeling the admiring gazes from both his wife and son, Silas felt proud, and a subtle smile formed on his lips.

He continued pouring the power of space into the painting for nearly two minutes. Once he stopped, the painting glowed brightly and a portal opened in front of it.

"Let’s go in," Silas said and stepped through first.

Ashara grabbed Azrael’s hand and approached the portal with him.

"You might feel a bit dizzy, but it won’t be anything serious," She said as she stepped forward, pulling Azrael in after her.

The moment he entered the portal, Azrael felt the world around him spin violently and he immediately wanted to throw up but managed to hold it in.

Fortunately, the strange sensation didn’t last long. After five seconds, Azrael felt his feet touch solid ground again and the spinning sensation stopped.

Although the world had stopped spinning, Azrael’s mind was still reeling and he nearly collapsed.

Ashara quickly held him by the shoulders and laughed.

"Tch tch! You can’t even handle something this minor. You really are just a little boy still wet behind the ears."

Azrael didn’t have the energy to argue, so he simply activated his Cold Blooded trait to clear his mind and finally regained his composure.

Once the dizziness subsided, he was finally able to look around. What he saw left him speechless.

He was standing in the very grassy plain depicted in the painting. A small lake flowed gently about a hundred meters away, and a cool breeze brushed against his face—so real that it made it almost impossible to believe he was inside a relic and not a real world.

What shocked Azrael even more was the density of cosmic energy in the air. It was at least three times higher than in the outside world.

Seeing his stunned expression, Silas— who had entered before them— smiled.

"Amazing, isn’t it? I even embedded a medium-level cosmic energy vein in here when I created this relic."
